Difficult to score this place. It's not somewhere you'd choose to camp unless you're going to Europa-Park - so with that established I'll assume you're reading this because you plan to visit EP.
The site itself is within 10 minutes walk of EP, which is fantastic. The check-in staff were helpful and spoke fantastic English (I've not seen another UK unit on the site so far, but English appears to be the lingua-franca for those that don't speak German or French). The pitches are level and power is available close to every pitch, but water is from one central point. The place is a sun-trap though, we've been here in 30C heat and there isn't much shade around the site. Also accept that you will be right next to your neighbours - I can see why some reviews describe it as a large stahlplatz/aire.
Sanitary facilities are reasonable, they aren't the best but are far from the worst and are surprisingly uncrowded - this is probably because most of the units onsite are a lot larger than our T5 camper. Seriously, there are some big RVs here, and the average unit is carrying a shower and toilet. So it's only those of us in our little campers that are reliant on the "Bath House".
The shops and saloon provide the essentials and more. Food in the Silver Lake Saloon was pretty good, with choice for vegetarians as well as lots of meat choices.
Overall the site is perfect for a trip to EP in anything from a campervan up to a...
Read moreSpent 2 nights at Silver Lake City camping and overall had a positive experience.
Check-in & Parking: Check-in was straightforward and hassle-free. Since we arrived early, staff provided us with a pass to use the multistory car park for the day while we visited Rulantica. Even when we returned late to collect our van, getting into the camping area was still easy.
Helpful Tips: I'd highly recommend collecting your park tickets physically rather than using mobile tickets - it makes uploading to the virtual queue system much smoother once you're in the park.
Campsite Experience: The Silver Lake City theming is fantastic and really adds to the atmosphere. However, the facilities definitely need expanding to cope with peak times - the men's toilets still had queues stretching out the door as late as 10pm.
There was some construction work happening during our stay that starts quite early in the morning, but I'm excited to see what improvements they're making to the site.
Overall: Great themed camping experience with efficient check-in, though facilities could use expansion during busy periods....
Read moreYour RV spot is basically a parking space, but you can hangout at the western themed common area and have a campfire. Free firewood.
Sadly, No laundry machines. But I image it would need to a huge washing facility to handle to volume of people that come here.
Poor wi-fi if you are far away from the common area.
Antiquated rules about leaving the property after 11pm... seriously, I know it common around Europe. And although many sites have modernized they still maintain this old rule. But the reasoning is unknown to anyone who works there. Pretty much anyone I ask can't figure out why there would be a rule that doesn't allow people to leave after 11pm. Maybe back in the 1980s, when the gate had to be activated by a security person. But with cameras and modern gates, it's just a stupid rule. It's not like this is some nature campsite or me driving my RV slowly through camp is gonna...
