G.C Royal Hotel Osu — Hotel in Accra

Not family friendly!!!!! Staff was smoking in the restaurant while we sat with our baby we asked if smoking was permitted we were told no but they will smoke anyway. We asked to bring the food we order to our rooms and we were told no it's not allowed. So we (three children ages 10, 7 and 1+ mum and dad) had to walk around to try and find food to eat. The next morning we were made fun of the chief made a joke saying because of smoking hahaha.

The children did not feel comfortable to eat breakfast. In the restaurant. When I asked at the desk if it is not allowed to take food from the restaurant to our rooms they told me of course it is allowed. When they were informed that the staff in the restaurant told us we are not allowed they did not seem surprised.

Same with the smoking. The staff seem scared to speak to other staff members if something was wrong.

On arrival we're ask to pay for our stay upfront the lady calculated from Sunday two night checkout Tuesday. She took a copy of my passport. She told me it was just for her to copy so she doesn't keep me waiting. on check out they infor us we have to pay again the lady only charged us for 2 rooms for 1 night. I wonder what would have happened if we did not have the funds. I ased what happened to the copy of my passport they told me they keep it for their records I asked what they need it for the couldn't tell me. After a phone call the agreed to copy the person's information that they copied on the back of mine and allow me to destroy mine in front of them which I have now burned. Why was my passport copied and then the same paper used to copy someone else's ID?

Someone was smoking 🚬 on the guest floors also regardless of the no smoking signs which staff knew and simply sprayed to try and mask the smell.

The pillows under the pillow cases are yellow stained. Damp in room so had to change shower broken when you turn on it doesn't stay in the holder.

There is no nice view. TV remote needed new batteries which staff seem to not have unless he went to another room to take from another remote In one room.

Then in the other room tv turned on but no channels available. I would like to no exactly what we paid for with such a high price 7648GHs for 2 rooms for 2 nights. I took videos there are to many to load here.

This place is not value for money.

I do not recommend this hotel for anything. Especially people with asthma or breathing conditions...

I stayed here the night of 4/4/24. The rooms were modern and nice. The staff were polite and mostly helpful. I was very dismayed that the Levels nightclub next door was playing music all night until 4am. The hotel promised to do something about it around 1-2 AM but I never saw the police show up and the volume never changed. The noise was in excess of 100 decibels until 4am and many patrons at the hotel complained.

Most disheartening is that the management decided to pass the problem onto the patrons. I asked what kind of discount they would give me and they offered nothing. I wish I wasn't flying out so that they could have asked the police there to mitigate the issues but I had to go. This is their neighborhood, their country and I was the guest. the only reason I stayed there for $120.00 USD was that I wanted one luxurious night of "soundproof" sleep, as advertised. The most I had paid previous to my last night in Ghana was $20 USD. I paid the most for the worst night I had in Ghana by far. They basically said that the noise was not their issue but mine. Not good customer service!

So go for a nice room, decent amenities and polite staff, but not for good...

Staff was nice, the breakfast buffet was good and location is good. The room specifically the bathroom is not the best. The shower allowed a lot of the water to wet the floor and with only a bath towel and a small hand towel you aren’t able to soak it up. Because of this I slipped and cut and bruised myself. Upon going to the front desk to ask for a band aid and other first aid materials they told me they ran out and go across the street to the pharmacy to purchase my own first aid supplies. Most hotels upon knowing there wasn’t adequate first aid supplies would make sure they had supplies for guests if needed…..also my key stopped working the morning before checkout, and the key holder in the room and the tissue holder kept falling on the floor…also they don’t provide new toilet tissue rolls to customer which I’ve never...
