ISLAND LOUNGE BAR&THAI RESTAURANT 在岛上 — Restaurant in Accra

My husband and I visited for a date and had a lovely experience. It is truly a hidden gem. After going up a slightly rickety elevator to the 8th floor, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who ushered us through an indoor bar and restaurant to a rooftop/terrace area with tents. This was a very interesting and unique touch which we appreciated. The gorgeous skyline view was the cherry on top.

The menu was expansive covering almost all the most popular Thai fare and even more. They also offer a very generous Barbecue and HotPot menu, with lots of vegetarian options (leeks, bok choy, enoki mushrooms, etc.)

We loved every single thing we tried on the menu, but here were our favorites: Fried Tofu (crispy fried tofu, with two delicious dipping sauces) Beef Pad Thai (flavourful, beautifully presented, fresh) Beef with Rice Noodles and Broth (clear, hearty broth that felt like a warm hug, noodles were top notch and the fresh cilantro was an authentic touch too) Mango Frappuccino (despite the name doesn’t come with any coffee at all. Fresh, ripe mango muddled at the bottom and delicious mango milkshake with whipped cream on top — taste was beyond good).

I must also say that the staff were so attentive, knowledgeable and eager to please.

Areas for improvement: please note, the bathroom is pretty bad. I hope the management comes up with some sort of lasting solution around that. I don't know where the good reviews have come from . Maybe the place has run down recently, but it was seriously crap: the food, the service, the atmosphere. Half of the menu was not available and we got the wrong food served. The food was just really not nice, tasteless, and little to do with Thai. The food left my body fluid and at high speed the next morning. The atmposphere: the place is run down, shabby, dirty and it all starts with the elevator. Yuk, you don't want to touch anything there. The terrace was with tents? Very loud musi - they turned down when we asked for it. Oh, it does not look like at the pictures at all! Service. crap: wrong orders were served and at a certain point staff was quarreling and shouting...

I think the meal presentation alone speaks for itself their pineapple 🍍 fried rice was super delicious 🤤 with a little of the pineapple taste and pineapple itself in the rice they also put cashews in the rice which made it crunchy and delicious I love their boba tea 🧋it is a must try excellent service and friendly staff clean environment and very beautiful decor they have a roof top which offers a beautiful view of the city Nice place to hold meetings because it’s not too noisy and great place for friends and family to hang out too also perfect for dates I recommend their services I will definitely...
