When heading out of Thessaloniki do not go south via the traffic jam that is the main road to Halkidiki, instead go East on Egnatia Dromo, the large, generally empty, road which takes you to the other side of the peninsulars. Past the second lake turn right, through the tunnel of green trees, straight through the loud hustle and bustle and lights of Stavros and keep going as the road undulates through the green hills. As you summit one of the hills you will catch a glimpse of Kafkanas Island and know you are almost there. Turn left, then through the ford, over the bridge and through the village, past the statue of Aristotle in the square, and, even when the village seems a little busy, you will find a place to park near the last building on the right. Grab your bags from the boot. Your car will be fine there for the rest of your holiday. Don't think about it again. Go through the gate, up the steps and be greeted with a smile as Kiria Louloudia appears from her kitchen. Take the time to chat then be invited to your room. Drop your bags and go and sit on the balcony. Whilst waiting for your welcome drink, taste the delicacies that have been left in the room for you. When your drink arrives, take a sip and look out onto the beach, the little church and the little fishing port, and feel the stresses of life roll off you. Know you will wake up every morning to a delicious breakfast on the lawn infront of the hotel, with local products straight from Kiria Louloudia's kitchen. Know your children will be safe in the clean shallow waters of the beach. (If they are very lucky they may even see a dolphin.) Know that your stress free day will end with good food in the terrace restaurant of Liotopi's sister hotel Akroyali, directly on the beach. (The menu has gotten even better this year. Kiria Louloudia says it's because the new chef sings while he cooks.) Know that whatever you need you can ask Kiria Louloudia and she'll do her best to sort it. Know that if you want a change there's a beautiful unorganised beach just a few minutes walk away (ask Kiria Louloudia if you can borrow a beach umbrella), or you could head up into the Archeological site and poke around the birthplace of Aristotle, or fish off the pier or off the breakwater at the port. Know that if you wanted a perfect, stress free holiday you came to the right place. I do this at least once a year, sometimes more. It's...
Read moreMy husband and I spent our mini Easter holiday (4 days) in this beautiful Hotel. We travelled a lot, especially through Greece. We love this country and Greek hospitality. But, this wasn’t just spending a holiday. From the first day, we felt like a part of the family. Loulou and her team do a great job in the hotel. They welcomed us with cakes, pastries, and juice. As we were fasting until Easter, breakfasts were specially prepared for us, and we enjoyed them every day. There was plenty of delicious, homemade food, with great quality and quantity. The hotel is spotlessly clean, we had a nice sea view room. Loulou was available for all our questions, she reserved tickets for us for a bout trip around the Holy mountain Athos, which was an incredible experience. In the end, we got a sweet present (homemade marmalade made by Loulou). The other part of the review is dedicated to lovely evenings we spent in Mr. Dimitris's restaurant Agroyialy (as a part of the half-board). There was a great choice of food every evening. You can choose an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. There is a great variety of salads, seafood, meat, and everything was fresh and carefully prepared. We enjoyed everything we tried. We ate seafood mostly, great calamari, mussels, and the best-grilled octopus ever. The wine was also very nice. As we are orthodox and were there for Easter, we decided to have a traditional Greek Easter dinner after midnight. Mr. Dimitris welcomed us as a part of the family, as we were eating with his family in the restaurant that evening. The dinner was fantastic with soup, lamb, salad, and wine. Beside the food, I was writing about, our great impression was Mr. Dimitris's hospitality, the way he talks and animates his guests. He is very kind, and I must say very funny in a positive way. His humor is very intelligent and we laughed a lot. We had a lot of themes to talk about. Although he was very busy, he always had time for us and made our evenings special. In the end, we got a bottle of wine as a present. We felt like leaving a family when we had to go home. We recommend Hotel Liotopi and Agroyialy restaurant to everyone who wants a personalized treatment, far away from mass tourism. We would like to thank our Greek friends for a great Easter holiday and hope we will meet again. Best regards from Jelena and...
Read moreUnforgettable stay at Hotel Liotopi – our favorite place in Olympiada, Greece!
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and care that’s truly rare. The lovely Loulou greeted us with refreshing lemonade, chocolate mousse, and ice cream for our child – all served in the hotel’s enchanting garden, blooming with flowers and charm.
The building itself is a gem – beautifully preserved traditional style, elegant furnishings, and artistic touches like paintings and antique décor that create a sense of timeless beauty. Our room had a stunning sea view, and the peaceful surroundings made our stay incredibly relaxing.
Each morning, breakfast was served in the garden – a true delight for the senses! Loulou prepares everything with love and ingredients from her own garden – savory pies, homemade cakes, fresh fruits – all beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
The beach is just a few steps away, and dinner at the family-run seaside taverna, managed by Loulou’s brother, was a culinary highlight. The seafood dishes were outstanding, the service quick and friendly, and the atmosphere warm and authentic.
Throughout our stay, we were surprised with thoughtful gestures – homemade sweets, fresh flowers in the room, and even a cooking class in the garden where Loulou demonstrated amazing recipes that we enjoyed with great pleasure. We were sent off like dear friends, with a heartfelt gift of homemade orange marmalade.
The area around Olympiada offers so much – idyllic beaches, the ancient site of Stagira, waterfalls, and a tranquil village atmosphere that’s perfect for a restful escape.
Hotel Liotopi is not just a place to stay – it’s an experience that stays with you. We already know we’ll be coming back. Thank you, Loulou and family, for the...
