Cons:
Room: The bed was hard, very hard that my back hurt from sleeping on the bed. The bed consist of two twins bed push together to make one bed.
Bathroom: Bathtub was extremely small and was hard to shower in but was durable.
No microwave nowhere at all at the hotel; not even at breakfast area (could not heat left over food).
Room 606 was underneath the breakfast area which meant every morning we was awoke by chairs being moved around; seam as they was being dragged on the floor.
Pros:
Check In: Was quick and easy; staff and reception was helpful and very nice, even help easy my auntie fear of the location. Reception area was clean and very inviting.
The hotel is in a conventional location; near Plaka, Acropolis, Central Market Athens, The Square, Restaurant, Monastiraki metro station, shops, cafés, flea market and more all within walking.
The hotel is a "rough" looking area but we felt safe and had no problem with our personal safety. We adventured out daily; morning noon and night. I did notice police everywhere which was an extra plus in feeling safe. By the third day we realize the people are just locals that we saw daily as we ventured out.
The room was excellent with aircondition/heater, small refrigerate, update television mounted to wall; flat screen television, in room safe and excellent in room Wi-Fi.
Room: 606 is has an very lovely view of the acropolis museum and the city.
The room has a large walk on balcony with decent patio furniture and a awesome view of acroplois museum. The beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset on the balcony was great but that view of acropolis at night was phenomenal.
The room was small but beautiful and clean.
Bathroom: The bathroom was small but clean. The bathroom was stock with toiletries which was of great quality. There was plenty of towels and tissue paper.
Continental Breakfast: Every morning for breakfast was fresh and delicious fruits that sweet and juicy. There was also yogurt, bread, cheese, cold meats and cereals, all enjoyed with a great view over Athens. Maid service: Excellent with keeping the room clean and stock with the necessities for the day.
Staff: Very helpful and quick with response when my mother in law and auntie need help with turning on the heat in their room and other little minor things they needed help with. Overall: The property was clean and very up kept and I would stay at Evripides Hotel again but for...
Read moreI can not understand those people giving one star review complaining about the dirt in the neighborhood (the Hotel can not change the hood) or the small rooms. Yes they have small rooms but that is common in european capitals. American tourists can not compare a double in europe with a double in the US. However, when you compare the prices they charge for the room, than it is absolutly worth every Euro one pays. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and like I wrote on other reviews from Greece, if you use some easy phrases like calimera (good morning), efharisto (thank you) etc you win they‘re heart as they appreciate when you at least try to speak some words in their language and not just expect that everyone speaks english, german or french. The rooftop lounge and bar are absolutely amazing with a fantastic view over the city and the akropolis. The same location is also used for the breakfast buffet that is included in this very reasonable price. It has a wide selection of everything and if they don‘t have what you want, they are more than happy to prepare it for you. Yes at night it can get a bit noisy from other hotel guests (!) or the neighborhood. Indeed it is quite dirty around the Hotel. Trash everywere and illegals from north africa stranded there with no chance of getting asylum or a job in europe. However, we never felt in danger for getting robbed etc as there are also locals who watch the streets as they do not want to see any tourist getting in trouble as they depend on them. The hotel is very conveniently located about 7-10 mins walk from the metro (station Monastiraki), and sightseeing. We walked all attractions as well as there are plenty of very good restaurants only about 10 mins walk away (Apostolou Pavlou). We also ordered a rental car through the hotel reception. He organised that the car was delivered on time (!) to the hotel the next morning and we could return it at the airport. And we paid for 5 days, all inclusive, unlimited miles €180.- ! Thanks to the...
Read moreThis hotel was a fantastic surprise and an absolute gem. I find some of the negative reviews hard to understnad. The location is ideal—right on the edge of the old town, so you’re close to the action without being all the noise and crowds.
We stayed in a superior room, which felt brand new—stylish, well-furnished, with a fridge and a modern bathroom and an excellent shower. The bed and pillows were genuinely comfortable, and the small balcony with a view of the Acropolis was perfect for unwinding.
One standout for me was the cleanliness, great in a way that many similar hotels just don’t manage. But the real highlight? The rooftop terrace and breakfast room. The vibe is relaxed and uplifting, with great energy. The terrace is open 24/7, and you’re free to bring your own drinks—ideal for watching the sunrise, sunset, or enjoying the city lights.
Breakfast went above expectations. It’s more than just the usual continental —everything was fresh and well-prepared. Warm boiled eggs (rare!), fresh bread straight from the oven, juicy kiwis, flavorful cheeses, hummus, and savory pies. If I had to nitpick: coffee options were basic. A cappuccino or a traditional Greek coffee would’ve been great. And the packed breakfast we received on our early departure day was a letdown—a sad little sandwich and a bottle of water. But neither of those points are deal-breakers.
The staff were warm, helpful, and consistently kind—at both the front desk and breakfast area.
Bottom line: If you’re headed to Athens, this hotel is 100% worth booking. Central, peaceful, clean, and full of thoughtful details that make your stay...
