We spent two weeks at the hotel. The sleeping area was pleasant, although the bedspread was dirty. The kitchenette needs to be refreshed, especially the cooker – if you want to cook, you will be afraid to use it. The bathroom was very neglected. The shower cubicle has rust, mould, large scale deposits and the door is falling off. The wash basin does not drain properly. The air conditioning did not work for the first three days and a new one was installed only thanks to our resident from the travel agency. Despite having purchased a two-week holiday, after one week they wanted to check us out without checking in the system how much the stay had been paid for. A week before departure we extended the last hotel night until 6 p.m. but we did not get any confirmation, the receptionist did not want us to pay by card. On the last day of our stay, when asked if he remembered that we were staying in the room until 6pm, he had trouble recalling the situation, he wanted confirmation of payment, which we did not get because he accepted the money in hand. After talking for a while he thought it was ok, but unfortunately when we returned from the beach we couldn't get to the room because the one in the system had already been released. After another visit to reception and a reminder that we had paid for an extended stay the week before, he granted us access to the room, and when we handed back the keys before leaving for the airport, he again made us explain when and how we had paid for the extended stay. Once again, I had to remind him how the payment had taken place and who had been there for it. Only then did he open his notebook and find a note that the stay had been paid for. He did not apologise for his mistake. The hotel is not new and the owners will eventually have to think about renovating the neglected old equipment especially as there are other better hotels in the area. The location of the hotel is very good, the organisation of work at reception is tragic, the service on the beach is fine, but we did not like the fact that they pointed out to us that we had coffee from...
Read morenTHINK TWICE, They may CHARGE TWICE TOO. That's what happened to us, in June, this year: We payed in advance on the 6th of May, then, after we arrived, they notified Booking that the card was refused.
We were surprised because my card had credit enough but the Island had terrible NET connections and I couldn't access my information, and I didn't took my card, so my partner payed with his credit card, but not in their reception, they have none, we payed in their Beach bar, no receipt from the hotel.
When we got home, I checked with my bank, and confirmed the payment had been made on 9th of May!
I notified Booking, they contacted Nefeli hotel and they argued that we rented 2 accommodations because the receipt of the payment stated local purchase (still waiting for may bank to explain who establishes that status - anyway we presented proofs as we were not in Greece in May)!
We demanded that they presented a receipt from the alleged second accommodation (of course they had none).
fortunately, Booking took charge of the matter and refunded us, but this was a stressful situation.
The Hotel could have easily confirm my payment (made more than 1 month before) but they saw an opportunity for something else. When confronted, instead of admitting an error -which given the circumstances, clearly was not (1 month is more than enough for bank transactions to be confirmed and this was a non refundable reserve) - they tried to convince Booking that we rented another accommodation...
On Booking they present photos from other Nefeli accommodations, they dismiss the critics saying it's not the same hotel but the owners are the same.
Take your conclusions and if you believe this wont happen to you,...
Read moreManager Mr Thodoris is a disgrace of Greek hospitality! When we arrived after a 5h drive with the baby we were told that the room we booked was occupied and we were offered an alternative accommodation which was not acceptable for 4 adults and a baby. Basically we were offered a downgrade. The lady at reception said that she was not the one allocating the rooms and she just did what the manager told her to do. We asked to speak to the manager but he was not available at the hotel. We were sent to see him at a different location( which was already another inconvenience) just to find him drinking coffee and refusing to talk to us. This made us so disappointed that we decided to leave the property and got reassurance at the reception that our card wouldn’t be charged. However as soon as we left they charged us for the first night and when we returned to sort this situation out, the receptionist told us again that the manager took authority to process this charge. This was done behind our back and the manager never tried to contact us or talk to us. Luckily we managed to get our money back ( by the way refund was issued in cash and nobody even took a signature from us to validate the receipt) and left the property hoping to never see them again. Imagine our surprise when a few days later we received an email from them asking to return the money back otherwise they would proceed with another charge to our card. The whole experience dealing with the team was so bad that we feel ourselves lucky to have never stayed there. Instead we found an amazing property for us with courteous and attentive hosts. What a shame...
