Maybe the Greek Tourism Office should reconsider how they allocate 5* ratings. |This hotel is very tired and needs some serious renovation. ||Room:|The room was in shambles when we got there and in no possible way a 5* hotel room. |The floor was so used and full of stains that created the impression it was dirty. There was a small bed-stool full of holes, as was the veranda sofa which was also rusty; the veranda chairs were both broken. ||The bedsheets were yellow from use and were not pressed. When we complained about the pillow cases they said the colour was ‘just from use’. One of the extra beds wasn’t done, they had left the sheets for us to do. The room was extraordinarily plain and there were no sockets on either side of the double bed. ||Bathroom:|The floor was full of dirt stains. There was a piece of brown dirt stuck on one wall which we don’t even want to know what it was. |The bathroom ceiling was full of mould and dirt which they admitted. There were no hand towels in the bathroom and the bath mat which was supposed to be grey, was full of yellow bleach stains. There was no bath curtain or bath glass. ||The room had no water in the fridge; it only had one coke, one beer and one chocolate bar. The tap water isn’t drinkable so when we asked they said their policy has changed and they don’t offer water, even though the mini bar menu stated that the minibars is checked daily to ensure two bottles of water are always there. When we asked the receptionist for water, she told us to go and get some ourselves from the bar. ||They eventually moved us up to a better room which was nicer and cleaner, however still it was by no means 5. ||Hotel grounds:|The only thing that is beautiful is the view. It is truly magnificent. The grounds are ok, but they look as if they could do with a bit of TLC||The lifts were filthy. They smelt horribly and had mats that’s I don’t think had been cleaned anywhere recently. The lift doors were shutting abruptly as the sensors were not working, they shut twice on my son. |The lift windows were full of bird poo and all sorts of stains. As the lifts had glass windows, going up and down all you could see was their filthy state.||Restaurant and service: Aside from the room, the hotel restaurant was extremely slow in service, the food was mediocre, and even their salmon ‘fillet’ was full of bones. ||At breakfast there was no one to guide guests where to sit and as it gets very busy, especially around 10 when breakfast ends, it gets chaotic with guests having to scout around for tables and fight for them when they become available. ||They are frying the eggs in the same surface as the pancakes and when we asked for fried eggs cooked elsewhere because of gluten intolerance, the lady responded she couldn’t do that and we should just take boiled eggs. When I responded this is a 5 hotel she mumbled something and said she would fry them in the kitchen. |The same lady was turning the pancakes which her hands; she was wearing gloves but it was the same gloves she was wearing to carry food containers and empty their contents. |We ordered two cokes to the room and they brought us the bottles only, without glasses…||Parking:|If you make the mistake of parking in the underground parking be very careful. This is not a parking, it is a storage area full of all sorts of stuff, with cables connected to mains and then placed over an old sunbed to avoid water leaks on the floor. Health and safety out of the window, alongside 5…||The staff were apologetic and admitted the hotel was tired and needed renovation. Most -but not all-of the staff were kind. ||Avoid this hotel unless you want to pay 5 prices for quality of day...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived at Ionian Blue, we knew we had chosen the perfect venue for our wedding. The location is perfect and offers a stunning backdrop that effortlessly blends elegance and charm.
The staff are amazing, every single one of them. They went above and beyond to ensure our special day was nothing short of magical. Their professionalism and attention to detail were evident from our first meeting to the last dance of the evening. Vasikiki, is the biggest asset to your business, her professionalism, her warmth, her kindness, her ideas are all second to none. Please please please value this lady in all her glory and treat her like the precious diamond that she is and she will have money flowing into your business through weddings and large scale events seemlessly. She was particularly remarkable, guiding us through the planning process with patience and creativity, she is solely the reason why we chose Ionian Blue as she greeted us and welcomed us from the very first meeting so warmly.
The accommodations were lovely and we were pleasantly surprised following the negative reviews we saw online, but they are clearly false. We had over 80ppl staying at the hotel for our wedding and recieved no complaints about any of the rooms. They were beautifully decorated that made both us and our guests feel really comfortable. Many of our guests commented on how comfortable their rooms were, which added to the overall experience of the time spent.
The wedding ceremony took place on the veranda of the hotel, which was breathtaking and I knew would be the perfect spot. The ambiance was perfect, and the setup was flawless. Chef and catering team delivered an outstanding menu that received rave reviews from everyone. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making our reception a culinary delight. I also want to commend Maria for the amazing Wedding cake, it was perfect and so delicious, it was so evident that it was made with love.
Moreover, the hotel’s amenities, including the spa and pool, provided our guests with the perfect way to relax before and after the festivities.
If I have to share one negative it would be regarding the hotel restaurant. It is overshadowed by the pool bar which serves amazingly delicious food throughout the day. So much so that Cristos did such an amazing job at managing demand and is quite often rushed off his feet but he is always so friendly, welcoming and helpful, definitely another asset to the team. The restaurant could do with a better choice of options or even matching the options presented at the pool bar.
We cannot thank Ionian Blue Bungalows and Spa enough for helping us create unforgettable memories and look forward to visiting again soon. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines beauty, exceptional service, and a warm atmosphere, look no further. We wholeheartedly...
Read moreIn no way way is this a five star hotel. I’m sure that years ago it was but unfortunately the lack of maintenance in todays standards would put it at a Two star no more than Three. Very much unkempt from floors to ceilings, rooms, balconies, stairs, bathrooms, gardens, and pool. The A/C in our room was set at 27 and it was definitely very warm in the room. The thermostat could not be adjusted and so we had someone come look it. He adjusted the blades a bit and told us it was now working fine. Upon returning to our room five hours later it was now 27.5 degrees. We called the front desk and they switched our room. Likely the A/C was working in the new room. It was late at night and we were quite tired by the time we settled for the night. Upon waking in the morning I decided to go out to the balcony and what I saw for a five star hotel was horrific. The balcony had a mattress to lounge and a table with No chairs that were covered in dirt, bird feathers and debris. Upon taking showers our bathroom was flooded in water. Our towels were full of mold stains our curtains were so filthy, the balcony doors had a haze of dirt on them, the railing on the balconies are falling apart as well on some of the walkways and for s five star hotel there was one pair of slippers for s room booked for two. Their breakfast is fine and dinner was ok. The buffet / restaurant in the morning had never been swept from the dinner crowd and therefore you could not miss the dried up pasta of potatoes that had fallen from the night before. Reading responses to previews reviews I decided that it is totally pointless to place s complaint with the manager. His responses are typical of a person who is not a professional customer service manager but rather of a person who cannot be bothered. Did not want him to think that we were looking for a discount or any sort of credit. The front dddm personnel was very attentive and we gave no complaints about them.it’s a shame that such a beautiful location and a hotel with such potentials is under such poor management. If you are looking for s Five Star or Four Star Hotel do your self s favor and skip over this one. If you decide to go anyway make sure to bring sheets, Pillowcases, towels cleaning and...
