We really liked this hotel. It ticked all the boxes in terms of what we wanted:|- adults only|- private pool|- chilled out vibe|- actual good cocktails with garnishes, etc. |- close to the beach and tavernas|- clean and modern||The hotel is on a small hill in Almyrida, which we did resent for maybe 30 seconds during the steepest part of the walk, but then we got back to our air-conditioned room and got over it. Plus the benefit outweighs the cons in this case because the views of the bay are just stunning! ||Almyrida itself is small so nothing feels far away. The hotel is about three minutes walk around the corner from the main road running along the beach and its many bars and restaurants. Also there is a lovely family-run taverna a couple minutes the other direction if you fancy a change of scene from the sea.||In terms of the room; it’s clean, modern and modestly luxury. It’s not over the top luxury. It’s understated and timeless. Just the vibe you expect from a 4* hotel. I loved the tile in the bathroom and the black fixtures. The shower also was really nice, with a rainfall feature, back massaging jets and also a handheld shower head. You get free toiletries but I mainly used what I brought so can’t comment on them. The kettle was spotless, you’re provided English Breakfast tea with small sachets of milk (very important for us Brits). You also get two bottled of water in your room per day (I did wonder if there was a more environmentally friendly way of doing this rather than giving out plastic bottles but c’est la vie) - still good to be hydrated! There is a fridge in the room too which really came in handy. The bed is…in my opinion…take this with a pinch of salt…it’s too firm. I struggle with chronic pain and this bed made my issues worse. I didn’t wake up feeling rested. The pillows were also too firm, so it was hard to find a comfy position to sleep! I have had worse but for a 4* hotel, I think the beds could be a lot better, and it’s the main reason I can’t give this hotel too marks. BUT if you love a firm bed, then this hotel is for you! ||The pools: We chose a room with a shared pool. But tbh we hardly saw our neighbours. Then when they were in their room when we were in ours, they weren’t in the pool. So we basically had the shared pool and its view to ourselves. And it really was a great addition to our holiday. The main pool was lovely too with another great view of the sea. Also the cocktails were great!||I liked this hotel. I’d...
Read moreThe Blue Elephant is hands down the best hotel I've ever stayed at. My boyfriend and I arrived at the beginning of June for a week and it was quiet and relaxing. I'm not sure if it's because we were there right before the busy season or if that's always the general vibe because it's a small hotel but regardless, it was heaven. The staff truly are second to none. They go above and beyond and are very friendly, kind and super professional. We were really impressed by all of them.
The restaurant is absolutely fabulous, five stars. We went twice during our stay and were blown away by the food. It's a bit of a treat in comparison to the other restaurants nearby but still very reasonably priced. The view is gorgeous too so even if you can't stay in the hotel, the restaurant is well worth a visit.
We stayed in a room with a shared pool and if you can, I'd highly recommend it. We experienced two days of okay-ish weather, bit of rain and clouds meaning we didn't want to be sitting at the main pool. It was still really warm though so we happily used our own pool. Great for evening dips too when the main pool was closed. The view from the room was beautiful. If you don't have a room with a pool though, you still have a balcony and a view so it's definitely not necessary to your enjoyment of the place. I'd still happily stay at this hotel in a room without a pool.
The location is great. It is situated on a steep hill so there's a bit of an uphill walk involved to get there (fine for us) but if you have differing levels of mobility, it's worth remembering. There's a little shop at the bottom of the hill if you get stuck for anything and the nearby strip of restaurants and cafes along the beach seems to stay open reasonably late from what we noticed.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It was the star of our trip which is why we stayed around and didn't venture much further. We both really want to visit again so hopefully that's on the cards. Thanks to all at the Blue Elephant! You're all doing...
Read moreA fantastic Hotel with beautiful sea views. We have a room with private pool which is lovely, it’s modern and simplistic which is perfect in my opinion! The shower is great and plenty of space for 2. Separate toilet room with the wash basin just outside the door. The room is spacious with double bed, sofa and has a small fridge. The patio is a nice 3m x 3m size with 2 Sun loungers, a coffee table, 2 chairs and accompanying side table. The single private pool is about 3m x 2m and 1.4m deep. And all has spectacular sea views! The Hotel has a gym (free) , sauna, massage and spa at an extra charge. The main pool which also overlooks the sea is perfect and has the sun on it all day with a number of sunbeds. The only downside to the hotel is the food. Admittedly I’m a very fussy eater however my wife has a much better palate and is in agreement that the food is a massive letdown. The breakfast is the same every day with not a lot of choices. You get Tea or Coffee (Black) and have to borrow milk from the cereal section. The bar snack menu isn’t great and the food not very enjoyable. There is no evening restaurant which is a massive shame because of the fantastic views form the hotel, so you have to go down the the beach front which isn’t a bad thing, in fact is a saving grace because there is lot of choices and some fantastic food plus everyone is so friendly and welcoming! Prices are very reasonable and you sit virtually on the waters edge. Their is also plenty of little shop for your everyday needs. Almyrida is an absolute gem of a place to stay! We would highly recommend this hotel and would...
