Title: Coastal Culinary Bliss: Dimitris in Almyrida, Crete

Tucked away on the scenic coast of Almyrida in Crete, Dimitris is the ultimate foodie haven that beckons travelers and locals alike to dive into a world of flavors. Our recent dinner escapade at this culinary hotspot left us completely mesmerized by its seaside vibe and mouthwatering seafood creations.

Upon stepping foot into Dimitris, the breathtaking view of the turquoise waters meeting the sandy shores instantly set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. Greeted by the friendly staff with genuine smiles and top-notch service, we knew we were in for a treat.

Perched by the sea, we embarked on a gastronomic journey that perfectly encapsulated the essence of Cretan cuisine. To kick things off, we indulged in a tantalizing spread of Greek dips, featuring an absolutely killer garlic dip that had us hooked from the first bite. Accompanied by fresh Greek salad and an assortment of cheeses, it was the ideal prelude to our seafood feast.

Our mains were a seafood lover's dream come true, showcasing Dimitris' commitment to serving up the freshest catches of the day. From succulent grilled prawns to a whole sea bream cooked to perfection, each dish was a symphony of flavors that left us craving more. The shrimp saganaki, with its flavorful tomato sauce and tender shrimp, was a definite highlight, while the seafood combination platter stole the show with its generous portions of shrimp, octopus, calamari, and mussels—all bursting with freshness and flavor.

To complement our meal, we indulged in a selection of locally sourced wines, expertly paired by the sommelier to enhance the flavors of our dishes. It added an extra layer of sophistication to our dining experience, elevating it to new heights of culinary delight.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the tranquil waters, we couldn't help but feel utterly content and relaxed. Dimitris had not only treated our taste buds but had also provided the perfect setting for a magical evening by the sea.

In conclusion, our dinner at Dimitris in Almyrida, Crete, was a culinary adventure that surpassed all expectations. With its stunning seaside location, impeccable service, and mouthwatering seafood delights, Dimitris is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge in coastal culinary bliss on the shores of Crete.

One of the restaurants on the sea shore in the village Almirida. Here it is usually quite busy and not without reason, because the food is good and the service fast and friendly. Also the cutlery is very good, with nice sharp knifes. We ordered the lamb chops here, zucchini balls, tuna salad and mousaka. The bread that came with the food is fresh and served in one piece (not pieces of bread from other tables that have been thrown together). There is a choice from white and brown bread. We also get a free bottle of water on the table. The rosé we have ordered - a house wine - is a simple, light wine. The tuna salad contains an onion, lettuce, egg, cucumber, tomato, cabbage, delicious olives, spring onion, chives, parsley and tuna of course. The French fries are homemade and crispy. We get 4 large lamb chops with a reasonably good flavour. The mousaka is fine. After the meal we get a free (rather large) bottle of raki, and cold ice cream with delicious coconut cake.

And of course we came back again. Is it now suddenly Dimitris Fish Tavern? Or Dimitris Traditions Family Tavern, as the it says on the menus? We order a spicey cheese dip, a mixed salad, a chicken souvlaki and a turkey with pepper sauce. The menu is still extensive with meat, fish and chicken dishes, omelettes, pasta and many entrees. We immediately get a bottle of water on the table and wet wipes to clean the hands. The bread comes with butter. The fries are clearly homemade and crisp. Both the chicken and the turkey are very tender. Tasty sauce, a little bit on the salty side pherhaps. Everything was excellent, and again after the dinner we get a dessert and a small...

Went here a couple of times last week....beautiful food! We didn't book a table but managed to get one each time, although we did over hear others who had pre booked. These were busy every night and yet they still got us in. You can see jow hard they work as it's the same staff each evening. Food was beautiful, especially for what it was. The steak wasn't a rubbish little piece like you get in the uk,it would have cost a fortune for the steak I had got at dimitris if it was in the uk. We also tried the slouvakis, schnitzel, seafood platter, side dishes and it was all lovely. We didn't bother trying the other restaurants as they are all similar prices and we knew this place was good from our 1st visit. We do usually like to try somewhere different each time but we really did enjoy everything here. You even get a free raki and a slice of cake at the end of the meal which my family are desperate to know what it was as it was delicious. Couldn't fault this place for food or service, they made no mistakes and made our meal out enjoyable. It seems to be a mixed place of both locals and tourists and like I say its packed out every night with a steady flow during the day time. Thank you to...

Edit: We actually went here again to give it another try and it was so much better, just avoided the omelette and pizza. Had instead filled aubergine and mixed meze platter which both were really good. After the lunch we got a great dessert with a dessert wine. So I raised the grade from 3 to 4 and I’m happy about it. :) —— Just next to our hotel and next to the sea so beautiful location. Unfortunately it took quite a long time until we got our drinks and then even later our food. The ones in our family who ordered sallad where happy with their order, but not the ones who ordered pizza, omelette (there where empty shrimp shells in the omelette) or pasta. When we asked for the bill we first waited a, some of our family left and then when a long time had passed I had to go up and ask again to be able to pay. In the end, they were friendly and the restaurant was not terrible, but will not go back here. Their menu was available in both English, Swedish, Italian, Greek, German and more.

We were recommended to try Dimitris after our morning snorkeling adventure with Omega Dive. So glad I asked for dining recommendations, Dimitris did not disappoint. I didn’t get a photo of our delicious Greek Salad, it was fantastic. I ate the Seafood Mixed plate. There was a lot to sample there and you better believe I ate a little of everything on there, and all of some. A wonderful plate of seafood that I thoroughly enjoyed. Wish I could be there right now. The atmosphere is just fantastic. You have an amazing view of the sea from every table. It is so nice and relaxing to eat and listen to the sea. The wait staff are all there to assist you during your dining experience. I fell in love with this area from our breakfast at the Croissant and Coffee place behind Omega Dive, to our snorkeling trip, to our amazing lunch here at Dimitris. When I return to Crete, I will look for lodging in this area.
