We first went to Marina apartments 25 years ago and returned for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had hoped to stay in the same apartment as back then and Marina has been wonderful and organized this.|We usually have adventurous holidays but feel we needed a relaxing time.|We didn't arrive till 9:30 pm but we were greeted by Marina and her mum and Shown the room.|I had read the latest reviews and was not expecting much.|However the rooms had been updated and were bright with modern furniture and a wonderful new kitchen.|The addition of AC in the bedroom was a great welcome.|The rooms were kept clean and sheets changed on a regular basis along with clean towels.|The hot water was a hit or miss but we managed showers, altho the shower curtain did like to get very friendly we laughed this off, water would get all over the floor but that explains the drain hole in the floor.|Our apartment was at the very top facing the road with lovely views, yes there was traffic but at night it wasn't too bad and sleeping well kept the door shut and that shut out most of the noise.|The pool wasn't there 25 years ago and it is such a a lovely place.|We went down on the Sunday as it was very peaceful, later in the day we used the swim up bar and there was a Party feel as it seemed the staff had brought their families down for the afternoon.|There was music and kids playing and a very good time.|The next day was the opposite, it was quiet and a few couples chilling out.|The pool itself is ideal as it has an access ramp to ease you into the water.|There are plenty of sun beds, and nice slumber area in the shade and a small kiddies pool.|The bar is good and the food great but beware the portions are very good and a little too much for us.|You are made to feel welcome and is a nice place to be.|Yes the downside is the steps to the pool and the hill up from the town is steep (never got used to it) but it's location makes it a much nicer place to be than in the noisy town.|We are already planning our...
Read moreThis is the second year we have stayed at Marina and we already can't wait for our next visit!|Marina is a wonderful hostess and always does whatever she can to make our stay as comfortable as possible when travelling with, last year a 5 month old baby and this year a 17 month old toddler! She sorted transfers with car seats and had a highchair ready for us to use in the apartment. |The apartments are basic but are always spotlessly clean and have everything you need for your stay. Beds are comfy, kitchens well equipped and while the apartments aren't huge, we managed absolutely fine. The garden area around the back which we had during our stay was a lovely addition and we enjoyed using the furniture to sit out and have breakfast. |The pool area is absolutely beautiful with a great shallow pool for children. Loungers are really comfy and there's always plenty. The toilets were always so clean and Kostas and everyone else working in the bar were so welcoming. |The location of the apartments is great - just a short walk down the road to a supermarket and into the town with lots of shops, cafes and tavernas along the seafront. |Previous reviews mention about the hill up to Marina. Yes there's a hill but it takes about 2 minutes to walk up it and it's not an issue at all. There are steps down to the pool and if in apartments over the road from the pool, there are more steps to reach where you are staying. It's a small traditional guesthouse so lifts etc can't be expected. It's clear to see to expect this from photos before arrival and we managed absolutely fine carrying a pram, bags and inflatables up and down the steps.|All in all it's a beautifully kept place with wonderful views and great, friendly staff and we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone!||Thank you Marina and Team for a wonderful stay again - we had the...
Read moreWe stayed at Marinas Apartments at the end of May last year and it was amazing. It was a family holiday with my husband, myself and our 3 daughters. The moment we arrived Marina was waiting to welcome us and took us to our room. We had a lovely clean room with good facilities. If there was anything we needed Marina would sort it no problem. The pool and bar was also very clean and a great space to relax while the children swam and played in the pool. The service by Kostas and George at the bar was impeccable. They were so friendly and welcoming. We had dinner one evening at the bar and George cooked a traditional corfiot dish for us which was delicious.|Agios Giordos is a quaint little sea town, it consists of a long stretch of sandy beach with many places to eat and drink at reasonable prices. Walking through the village everyone says hello and are very friendly. We ate out at different places every evening and each one had its own uniqueness. We took a boat trip from Gouva to Kassiopi which was absolutely stunning. We booked this through the Madelena boat trips which is a family run company and they picked us up from the bus stop and took us to the port. We all enjoyed the boat trip and got off at a few of the beauty spots on the east coast of the island. |We also caught the bus to Corfu old town which was really easy and only cost a few euros each from the supermarket by the bus stop. Corfu old town is definitely a great place to visit with lots of history. |We would love to go back one day, beautiful island with beautiful people. Oh and the Mojitos at the bar are so good...
