Onar Corfu Apartments & Studios — Hotel in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

I wish I could give this property five stars, as the location alone makes it an incredible spot to stay. Ypsos is small but beautiful, and at Onar, you have all of its restaurants, small markets and amenities at your disposal.

Let me start with the good: As I said, location. Everything is close. Moreover, the beach is small, quiet, private and safe. The waves never get rowdy, so it's perfect for swimming, and as a solo traveler, it was important to me to know my belongings were safe. They were never touched or even looked at. I really appreciated that.

The cleaning staff were nice, smiley and kind. They worked hard and were always there to help me when I needed it. I've only seen the owner once upon checking in, otherwise I've mostly ran into a dog who I jokingly started calling Mr. Manager as it seemed to overlook the property under everyone else's absence. A very cute and calm puppy!

Next, the bad. Nowhere on the site nor on booking does it say just how loud the bar downstairs gets. I knew it existed, and didn't find it that bothersome the first night, but that's probably because I was exhausted. I didn't expect the music and the vibrations from the bass would keep me up so much. The windows aren't soundproof, and neither are the walls, so if you want to sleep, forget it. I'm mostly a night person, so I endured, but it did feel frustrating and disingenuous. I wish this little caveat was better informed ahead of time so I could've at least taken my earplugs with me! If you're not someone who parties every single night till 5 am, then I wouldn't recommend booking here. You won't be able to get rest.

Nevertheless, I am happy I got to visit Ypsos, it really is beautiful. Seriously, thank your cleaning staff,...

Pluses and minuses: Sunbeds available right in front of the hotel, just across the street Friendly staff Bar downstairs, which looks nice. Drinks are really tasty Clean rooms The bar is a club during the night, each night. The problem is that the noise is extreme, at least in the rooms from the first floor The rooms are very bad isolated from outside sounds. You can hear very clear when "neighbors" take shower, what they discuss, also you can hear them snoring or making others activities. People from the lobby are so clear to understand like they are next to you. Loud bathroom ventilator. Turning on the light in the bathroom automatically starts also the ventilator. The ventilator sound leaves the impression the bathroom is preparing to take off There were "party people"each night, who continued the party and loud music in their rooms. Worst night was one when they kept the room door open until 4+ AM, while listening to loud music. No action was taken from the staff to mitigate this. Neutral info, but useful to share: No breakfast available, however there are options nearby. Bottom line: if you can sleep no matter the sounds, this accommodation is a nice one. If you can sleep unless medium-loud sounds, avoid this accommodation. Expect an average of 4-5h of quiet time per night. 2 stars because I left dead tired from this accommodation. No chance to get proper night sleep there. I don't need absolute silence, but I also can't sleep in a club or just above the subwoofer. If you are...

We started our holiday in Corfu, Ipsos...||When we arrived at the residence of Onar, we were immediately warmly received by the two brothers, who owned the place..||If we had any questions or troubles, they did their very best to help us! This hotel was suited with an bar/lounge...and if they had some free time..they come and talk with their customers. ||Both brothers are very friendly, funny, social and caring.||||But unfortunate, this experience came at an end at day 2. ||When we arrived at the bar/lounge, we wanted to order some drinks and so...||After waving frequently at the female employees, they waved back, but did not make any effort to come our way. At some point they taunted us, by walking back and forth in front of our table....and still no service. ||We had to order our drinks and so at the bar ourselves. ||||The love the brothers put in this place, is amazing. But are ruined by such coworkers...||If I had to rate the brothers and the venue...5+.||But I am very sorry to say that this type of service will damage your image. ||Will not recommend this...
