My mum and I had the most fabulous stay at the Aretanassa in June 25. What a beautiful hotel and of course beautiful location! |From the second we stepped off the Aegean Gem ferry from Rhodes, Yiannis took the best care of us, driving us to the hotel, pointing out places of interest along the way. We stayed in a triple room with balcony on the first floor and looked out over the harbour, absolute bliss! A really comfy bed, a large room with lots of space and all decorated in relaxing beachy colours. We had emailed the hotel in advance and asked for a kettle in our room and that was there when we arrived. We were also able to borrow an iron while we were there.|Chalki is a really small island with only one town, but there are ample restaurants to choose from for an evening meal and some good shops too (The Queen of Halki sells some beautiful hand made jewellery). |There is a small beach with beautiful turquoise water just a 5-10 walk from|the hotel, plus you can also get a water taxi to Kania and a taxi or a slightly longer walk to Pondamus beach. We visited all three (sunbeds are available and also tavernas) but also spent 3 days on the loungers at the Aretanassa. Really comfortable and you can swim by climbing down a ladder.|Yiannis, the hotel manager made this holiday for us. He was so caring and attentive and a fantastic host. Plus the other staff (Dimitri and others) were really lovely too, the only thing preventing a repeat booking is the fact there are many more islands for...
Read moreWe come to Rhodes for one month every year. We decided to visit Halki to choose a hotel for one week next year. It was a very hot walk from the harbour. We approached reception to enquire about booking. No one was there so we waited. After a few minutes, I rang the bell. No one came even though I could see staff working in the bar area. They could hear the bell and see us. After another wait. I walked to the bar to see if someone was available to speak to us. The barman reluctantly made a phone call. He said someone would come but he didn't know when... We walked to the front of the hotel to make our way out. We stood for a second to take in the view and were approached by a young man, small in stature, asking us to leave as only guests were allowed to be there! There will be ZERO chance if us wanting to book there. Rude...
Read moreWe had a lovely stay at Aretanassa. As the hotel is located at the edge of town, it is very peaceful and quiet with a great view of town. You can hear the gentle waves all day and night as the rooms face the sea. The staff here is amazing - Yiannis is very accommodating and will arrange to pick-up and drop-off at the port, while the staff is extremely friendly. The breakfasts are plentiful and the restaurant serves a delicious lunch. There are sun chairs available specifically for guests of the hotel that are very comfortable to relax in all day. There is also a step ladder into the sea right in front of the hotel. While being a bit further from the centre of town, it is still very close to everything as the island is quite small - you can easy walk to Pondamos (15 min), Ftenagia (5 min), and...
