Moka Apartments Chania — Hotel in Municipality of Chania

This apartment is roughly 25 mins from old town of chania,which to us wasn't a problem as we are fit and healthy although in our 60's. The problem was the pavements and roads leading down to the old town are terrible. Full of holes, broken slabs , poor lighting along the way. The apartment is situated in anopolis 17 which we now know as told to us by one of the nearby residents/taxi drivers was and is one of the poorest areas in Chania and it shows. The residents have their own allotments across from the apartments along with their wildlife,geese, chickens and more.the apartment inside was very good, the owner very nice. We had a problem with the fridge not working and was replaced with a smaller one in 2 hours,unfortunately the fridge was very, very dirty which my wife had to clean and wash out. The outside space is substantial, back area with sunbeds/chairs which we couldn't use as the cats of which there are many of in the garden of the apartment used them,they were foul smelling of urine and cat hairs all over them and they had been using them every day and night . I tried to chase them away but they kept coming back. Also the side of the apartment there is a shaded area with some chairs and nice table is the only one we could use as it was metal and the cats didn't seem to like that. The other sun beds at the side on the AstroTurf were also used by the cats and smelled terrible of urine and hairs. The small area at the front of the astroturf which is covered in little pebbles was used as the cats area for toilet use also. They were all over the outside of the apartment,I tried to spray pepper in the areas but didn't work on them.the location where the apartment are is in a poorly lit area at night as we walked home once and we could hardly see once we got off the main drag. Eventually the only safe way we could get to the old town in the evening was to get taxis at 10 euros each way up and down.the apartment was air conditioned and nice bedroom, kitchen area fine.But the thing that let's this place down is 1. LOCATION. 2 THE CATS ALL OVER THE OUT SIDE OF THE APARTMENT. 3. THE SMELL OF CATS ALL OVER THE OUTSIDE. 4. THE POOR INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE SIDEWALKS ROADS AND LIGHTING LEADING TO AND FROM THE APARTMENT . Now I know we could have said something to the agency or the owner at this time but they would not have been able to move us to anywhere else as I believe they don't have anything else in chania plus what could they do about the CATS.they have been using that area outside the apartment for ages. Sehr schönes Apartment. Preis-/ Leistung ist Top. Es ist modern und mit allem was im Alltag gebraucht wird ausgestattet. Jeweils 1 Klimagerät in jedem Zimmer die sehr leise und ruhig laufen. Liebe zum Detail in jedem Zimmer. Vor dem einzelnen Apartments hat’s jeweils einen Parkplatz. Zudem eine Terasse Vorderseite und hinten zum Schlafzimmer mit Hängeliegstühlen und einer Bananenpalme. Es ist nicht laut, sehr ruhige Gegend. Haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Und freuen uns auch erneut dort Urlaub machen zu können.
