My wife and I stayed 4th - 18th July 2023.
We both really enjoyed our stay and plan to return when we can (many guests were return visitors which speaks well of the hotel).
Rooms have a nice contemporary feel and are kept spotlessly clean by the friendly and helpful cleaning staff (in fact all staff were very friendly and helpful - we had an issue with our air con remote which was sorted on the same day we reported it).
The bar is worthy of a special mention. Boyan is the perfect host making everyone feel welcome. Drinks are cheap by UK standards (€3 for a large beer and €5/6 for cocktails). We spent many a night relaxing there having enjoyed a good meal at one of the many local restaurants. Boyan also kindly ordered our daughter a takeaway pizza one evening - just a typical example of how helpful the staff at Moonlight are.
In the day we would chill on the lawns of the hotel opposite - walk through the car park opposite the Moonlight's gates. Sunbeds are €2.50 each with an additional €2.50 for an umbrella. For this you can also use the pool and fresh water shower and have easy access to the sandy beach below (several steps). There is also a restaurant/bar where you can buy a reasonably priced lunch or just relax with a cold drink. We found that being on the grass was far cooler than the hot sand and being slightly elevated from the beach meant that we could make the most of the sea breeze which was present most days.
Take a left out of Moonlight's gates, walk a few hundred yards and you will find yourself on Stalis's main strip with a good variety of restaurants (Greek, Chinese, Mixed Asian, Pizza and some traditional British style pubs). I especially enjoyed the restaurants with beach terraces - nothing like enjoying your evening meal in a nice balmy sea breeze after a day in the sun!
If you head off right out of Moonlight's gates then there are also a choice of Greek restaurants and nice bars.
The atmosphere in Stalis is friendly and laid back with no rowdiness.
In short my wife and I were really happy with Moonlight Hotel and Stalia and plan to return...
Read moreWe booked this very last minute ( 24 hrs before our flight) and were pleased to arrive at a small but comfortable, clean hotel. Our room was very pleasant, in the block at the back of the main building with a little terrace. This had an outlook better than some rooms did in the main building ( number 5) and was further away from the road, so we recommend it.|Bathroom was sound, small shower like most people mention but plenty of hot water. |Breakfast each day was the same and simple, but more than sufficient for 2 star accommodation, and we just had snacks for lunch and then ate out at night.|The only negative for us was the arrangement to use the pool at the hotel across the road (the Adriana?? hotel). Both TUI and our lovely hotel manager said this was free for guests of the moonlight hotel to use but after 4 days the pool attendant spoke to us very rudely and said we couldn’t use it for free!! We told him that we had been told we could!|I think he had an issue with us sitting on the grass and not paying for sun loungers which we did on our first day, but from then on, as we went out each day to explore and only returned to the pool at 4 pm, we didn’t think it was worth it. Also plenty of other people were sat on towels on the grass, so we followed suit. |When we pointed this out to the pool attendant he still insisted we couldn’t do this, but we couldn’t understand why not- it seemed one rule for some but not for us?? He was quite aggressive and spoilt our stay so much so that we didn’t return to the pool again. He clearly didn’t like us. |Overall, the Moonlight hotel is a small, friendly, basic but very clean hotel but I would not stay here again because of the pool issue across the road. I would prefer to pay more for a hotel with...
Read moreDelightful little place to stay . Really surprised how much we enjoyed our stay , as we are used to staying in large five star hotels. |Maria cooks a delicious breakfast . Housekeeping keep the place and rooms spotlessly clean. Location is perfect . Transfer to the airport is about 30 to 35 minutes . |Hotel owners are helpful and friendly . |The hotel bar is outside and has a good atmosphere. Simon makes a great mojito. Music is played and there is also two televisions for anyone wanting to catch up on sport . |The hotel bar like to be paid in cash , so if you can please do so . If you are lucky you will meet little rocky. He is a cute dog who is always hanging around in the evenings at the bar . |FYI for those thinking of booking . The hotel opposite charge €8.40 to use the facility even though TUI say it’s free . It’s not but it is not the owners of the moonlights fault . TUI are advertising this incorrect on the website . But the hotel up the road let you use it for free , think it’s called Alexandra beach. |Moonlight charges apply for aircon and safe .|€60 week for aircon |€30 week for safe . |Towels changed every three days and bedding changed once a week . Free parking if you hire a car or similar . |If you come out of the hotel and turn right , walk five minutes up the road you will be able to find a little supermarket to get snacks and water , as no food available at the hotel accept breakfast . Which is a lovely breakfast indeed . Kettle in the room so take a few teabags with you for a nice morning cuppa . |We would happily return for another holiday to the moonlight and highly recommend. Most people staying there return year after year , so that tells you how...
