Anaktoro — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

We passed by this restaurant every day for two weeks, and one day, my wife accidentally left her phone there. She realised it was missing about four minutes later while we were at the beach, and after quickly checking 'Find My iPhone,' we saw it was still at the restaurant. This is where the story gets interesting.

We went back to the restaurant four times, hoping they would return the phone, as 'Find My iPhone' was clearly showing it was inside. However, the manager and the cooks were not exactly helpful. All we got was a vague 'No, we haven’t seen it,' and a rather cheeky, 'Oh, you lost your phone? Is it an expensive one—about 1500 euros?' Despite checking in and out of the restaurant multiple times, the phone's location always pointed straight to it.

Finally, I noticed they had security cameras, so I asked to review the footage. The manager started to squirm and said we should wait for the owner, who would be there in an hour—basically, asking us to come back later. Of course, we didn’t leave because it was clear they were stalling. Then, when 'Find My iPhone' showed the phone moving, we saw it was moving exactly as the manager was walking inside the restaurant. At that point, he decided to return the phone, saying without a hint of shame or regret, 'Oh, I just found it—here it is.'

We decided not to involve the police, as we just wanted to move on and forget about it. But when we got back to our hotel, we discovered he had managed to remove my wife's SIM card (clearly trying to disable 'Find My iPhone'), but fortunately, she also had an eSIM, so it didn’t work. It's worth noting that the iPhone was in a protective case, making it impossible for the SIM card to have fallen out by accident.

In short, this is a restaurant with staff we would avoid...

Who ever visited tourist areas knows the aggressiveness of front door marketing. But after going in and studying the menu the waiter came like 5-6 times while I still hadn't decided yet. I felt pressured and after finished eating we 've been almost ignored. (for paying p.e.) Mostly I am not picky around those things, but it did not feel well as a general experience. All staff was really friendly though. I compare to other local restaurants in the area instead of just personal criteria - and they do way better. Mussels tasted fine, the bruschetta was not bad but nothing special either. I don't know if I have a problem with seafood because I don't eat those regularly - but I have to say that I had some problems ~30 minutes after eating those, just for the sake of completeness. Thy souvlaki was very stiff - but my accompaniment was not courageous enough for pointing it out. I have to clarify that it was not for the quality of the food that led to the rating. We won't come back because it was simply not good enough to be feeling that way - even when you're close to being the only guests during...

Vielleicht hatten wir nur Pech... Wir sind relativ ausgehungert nach mehr als 24 Stunden auf den Beinen am Nachmittag dort gewesen, da es nicht weit weg vom Hotel war und eine Ortsansässige uns sagte, es wäre zu empfehlen. Wir saßen auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf das Meer. Soweit so 👍. Wir bestellten die Grillplatte für zwei, aber anstatt Pommes oder Reis: nur Grillgemüse. Da dies auch einzeln als Vorspeise auf der Karte steht, dürfte das kein Problem sein. Das Essen kam erstaunlich schnell. Und da fängt der Hamster an zu humpeln... Wir bekamen eine Grillplatte, allerdings mit Reis und (zugegebenermaßen) guten selbst gemachten Pommes. Aber die hatten wir ja abbestellt. Das "Grillgemüse" kam in Form EINER Spalte Paprika und ein paar Scheiben Zucchini daher. Dazu lag noch Beilagensalat (so wie er auf dem Beutel kommt) auf dem Teller. Alles ohne Dressing. Das hätte auch keiner gebraucht, wenn wenigstens gutes Öl, Essig, Salz und Pfeffer (aus der Mühle) auf dem Tisch platziert worden wäre. Wir haben Tzatziki nachbestellt, welcher mit 4 Euro zu Buche schlug, aber der war wirklich lecker und auch viel, sodass der Preis dafür ok ist. Nun der schlimme Teil: die Hauptkomponenten, also das Fleisch, war so mies, dass wir es nicht mal aufessen wollten/konnten. Sämtliches Fleisch war gefühlt zehnmal auf dem Grill gestorben. Außer das Hühnchen, das war frisch(aber das braucht halt auch nicht lange). Daher meine Theorie: man hat uns das Fleisch vom Vortag (Überproduktion am Grill) nochmal auf den Grill geworfen. Das hat im Mund einen herrlichen Zerstäubungseffekt hervorgerufen, welcher dann schließlich mit einem Hausschnaps gemildert wurde. Möglicherweise ist das Essen abends "frischer". Aber wenn ich den ganzen Tag den Laden offen habe, muss ich halt auch den ganzen Tag die gleiche Qualität anbieten. Fazit für uns: wir gehen nicht wieder hin, empfehlen kann ich es durch meine Erfahrung auch nicht guten Gewissens. Eigentlich hätte ich nur zwei Sterne vergeben, aber die gute Aussicht und ein Obstteller aufs Haus haben mich...
