Average hotel - something is good, something ... go under the level.||||You can expect non functional light on cellar, cheap waste bin which will broke in few days. Fridge in room - no problem, but it'l make noise and hot at night. Open balkon doors for fresh air at night - ok, but at the morning I saw first in my life cockroach 5 cm big(we had ground floor near kitchen), no big problem for me but my wife cancelled :) such fresh air at night because she afraid of child... Hotel situated at the edge of the town - from 21 to 23 h you can feel strong animal/agricultural smell from somewhere ...||||Bed for little baby was never cleaned i think, and also had noticeable smell of "used" thing - i had to find and buy dishes wash liquid and wash it by ourselves in bathroom.||||No anti moskito nets. Lining is clean and was changed 1 or 2 times during our 10 nights accomodation. A lot of Towels. Pillows are hard and uncomfortable - no possibility to change, my wife had slept on little one (for baby), after 2 nights i had used half deflated ball.||||Supper is quite good and various. Breakfast is not on same level but also quite acceptable, for example they use water supply network for making tea - water is light salty so tea had some strange taste. For 2 year baby there was not allways possibility to choose from.||Try to avoid rooms in blocks near/facing the road - it can be quite noisy at night.||Personal is quite pleasant and ready to help if it is possible.||The main hotel visitors was german, greek, hungary pensioners.||Wi-fi is working only on reception/restaurant but you had problem to connect at the evening possibly because of overload.||||You have to travel 250m to beach, if you have a little child - no shortcuts possible, its became 350 - not very easy if it's hot.||||We were in September, beach sometimes is narrow and should had no many place in main season. ||||A lot of stores/shops/butiks/rent a car, scooter with good prices at the end of season.||||||Summary - not recommended if you have a little child.||Recommend - if you are not sofisticated person, especially if you plan to spent a lot of time on beach, auto trips and visiting archeological or...
Read moreRight…the hotel itself it is nice, it has beautiful gardens, the buildings have traditional characteristics but….what a bad management… staff need to learn how to make people feel welcomed, the front house is special needs and to be honest he is doing his job but the restaurant, the bar staff, not at all nice, from the first evening the chef was shouting at my son over spilled food which was not spilled by my son! Tried to explain but I think they did not speak English.. then, another big minus is they charge you for everything! You pay for meals with your holiday but then you have to pay on top for drinks that are not cheap at all…pay for air con too..anyway… food was basic, very basic, you will not starve but is not delicious at all, same things all over…son found bones in his bolognaise sauce… cleanness…well, the system is they change your towels every 3 days although I asked for towels the second day and they provided, don’t think they changed linen, maybe once…because the front of house has some communication problems we did not understand everything from them…v bad communication and tbh we did not felt welcomed at all…not friendly…I would avoid it. Beach is very nice and v close and we ended up eating out, local tavernas are very good and affordable. Overall we had a great holiday but not a nice stay at this hotel, the travel agent solded us the holiday advertising this hotel as 3 stars but I don’t think it has 3 stars.. swimming pool v small and closes...
Read moreBefore I booked my holidays in Paloma Gardens I was little bit hesitant as the rating on trip advisor was in the mid range only. After my holidays, I truly have to say I don't understand why this place does not have 5 star rating from everyone!||||I came with my boyfriend in the middle of the night, we were greeted by the hotel owners. The main foreign language they speak is Germany but their English is good and we had a short chat every day. ||||The room was simple (eg no TV but who needs a TV on their holidays?) but super clean, bright and nice. i think every room has a balcony which was just a perfect size. ||We had two single beds merged together which we did not like so without any hassle, we were moved to another room with a double bed. This room was also perfectly sufficient. ||||FOOD! I cannot explain the food which was prepared for us every evening. Just beautiful. And you have many vegetarian and vegan options too. Breakfast was also rich with a variety of choices. ||||The beach is approx 5 mins walk from the hotel. You have a stony part but if you walk only a few meters away there is sandy beach all along the coast up until to Malia. ||||I can say just one thing, me and my boyfriend had a time of our lives there. Thank you to the warm approach from the hotel owners (a family run business) who take exceptionally good care of their customers. If we go to Crete again, we will surely come to this hotel!!||Excellent holidays of 2016! :-)...
