I first came to the village in 2001 on my own then subsequently with husband and daughter over the next 20 odd years. Although I have never stayed at the hotel, Mirtos Hotel was always the centre of the village. I have fond memories of football being shown there and the village residents lined up on the chairs as well as tourists watching the match. I return now in 2024, having not been since the hotel stopped doing evening food and I think the village has really lost something because of it. It no longer has a village centre which is such a shame. Manola and his lovely wife deserve a rest but still...I hope ultimately the venue is taken over by people who wish to bring the beach trade and the non beach trade together. The rooms on the first floor are only adequate, with smelly septic and little hot water in the bathroom, small windows and balcony with just a glimpse of the sea through a small gap between buildings. However all of this is compensated for by the proprietor, Yanna, who is so kind and caring and helpful and makes it all work well. The specials of the day are explained and shown to you which is a great help in choosing your meal. We had the stuffed aubergines and octopus. The octopus was the best during our whole holiday.
