Nikos has rooms at the seaside, but also inside the village 50 metres from the sea. Some rooms are or better quality then others. He is a real cretan guy, so don't expect on first sight a laugh from his face. But anything you need he will help you out with, for sure! About the boats, diving and sunbeds, agreed upfront about the price and everything will be OK. Miscommunication due to language differences isn't worth the trouble to place bad reviews. Yes, he is not the typical North European business guy and problems exists due to not a perfect level of English from customer to owner. But you get what you pay for, traditional rooms with owner for a lower price or a better quality, but he will show you around and you can choose the rooms if there are multiple available. I know nikos for years and he took over the business from his brother when he passed away, before he only did the diving and boat rental. Seaside view mean 50 metres from the beach, sea view means at the beach. And he has a great stone house without any views but with amazing trees in the second parallel street from the sea available that is worth every penny in the village with cooking facilities. So respect the difference in price and don't expect miracles to happen for a lower price. If a room is available then he will tell you with better views, but everything is based on your budget. And for diving or boat rental, be clear about the price upfront and everything will work out fine. Nobody works for free and gasoline prices went through the roof as...

First we rented the sunbeds and umbrella. It was very comfortable and we liked that it is located at the best part of the beach. The owner Nikolas, was very gentle and helpful and he let us as well use the toilet as well. The following day we wanted to go to Chrissi and we remembered the day before at the sunbed's place in Myrtos the owner was having a lot of scuba diving staff, so we search the number of 'Paradiso hotel Myrtos' in google, we called him and ask if he has a boat to go to Chrissi. He said: "guys give me some time to see if I can organize a group, I'll try my best". In less than one hour he had a group ready and we were on the boat going to Chrissi. We had the best time in Crete! He is a real local, he know all the good spots and he prepared us a delicious cretan dish on the boat. Was all unbeatable! (By the way I don't understand all the bad comments, Hotel Paradiso looks like a real Cretan spot and experience...whoever wants a touristic experience there are plenty of resorts around the island. People like Nikolas and places like Paradiso are rare to see nowadays in the Mediterranean where everything is ready and made for the tourists. Appreciating the culture, the way to be of the locals of the destination without critizing why they are not acting like in your country...this is the real travel experience)

When we arrived we were received in a very unkind way. The owners hardly talked to us and just handed us the keys. They didn't even say "welcome", which on Crete is pretty usual! I immediately asked for the receit, since I had already paid online. They told us that they were going to do that later. The apartment was full of long dark hair, probably by the previos customers. (The rooms are cleaned every third day.) On the third day water was pouring out of the air condition and flooded parts of our room. When I told the owners what happend, I was yelled at by them "You have to empty the condensation bottles on the balcony. It's not just you! Nobody ever thinks of emptying the bottles! So the air conditions clog!" I answered that it would have been nice to explain that to the customers at their arrival. Anyway: They told us that they were going to clean it up, which they didn't! The day before our departure the receit still wasn't ready. I told the owners in the morning, that I needed it today, since we were planning to leave very early the next day. I was told that they were going to have the receit ready in the afternoon. In the evening it still wasn't ready. So they told me, to leave my Email adress, to send me the receit. One week later it still hasn't arrived. The Wifi didn't work most of the time. All in all: Worst service...
