Booked this place as a cheaper getaway because having holidayed in Greece multiple times, I know first hand that cheap basic accommodation is still a clean environment. This is anything but. On seeing this apartment from the get go, it stank. It smelt like a sewer. The septic tank for all the apartments is right next to the kitchen but even the smell coming from the bathroom was unbearable. The door frames had finger marks from previous customers, stains on the bed frame, the linen threadbare where you can see the colour and pattern of the mattress, the shower curtain mouldy. Then it just got worse... The cleaner only comes around once every two days. The rubbish has piled up and the toilet bin with the used toilet paper is overflowing adding to the smell. I asked for new towels which were given to me but alas they were stained. The beds are super old and have springs jutting into your back whilst lying down making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. The bed my daughter is sleeping on has bed bugs and she is covered in bites. The pool, well I’m hesitant to get in as it looks cloudy by the end of the day, which means not enough chlorine. I am a pool owner myself and know how to maintain it. Our shower was not usable as it was blocked. Thankfully there was a public shower that I made use of instead but obviously I had to go out and have the shower in my swimsuit. I asked them to unclog it and I believe they attempt but it’s still the same. It floods the bathroom. One toilet roll for our two days here. No one around to ask for more. Came in late last night to find the front door locked with no instructions for after hours entry. Thankfully one of the guests heard us and told us how to get in. You will probably read great reviews on this site like I did but I believe it is because Eva the landlady is quite charming and spends a lot of time by the pool making use of the facilities more than tending to hotel matters. She is either by the pool or off the premises. Whilst by the pool she is very friendly with her guests so she probably charms people into not putting up a bad review. I spoke to another friend of mine who is paying 30 euros a night in Kos town and has her bed made every day and has breakfast included, so the cheaper good accommodation option still exists but not at Manine apartments. I have another two nights but I am leaving the hotel as I cannot stomach the...
Read moreThe Manine is situated less than 10 mins from the beach but about 25 mins walk from Kos town. There is a good supermarket about 300m away on the main road. We booked a "Comfort Studio" but were given a 1-bed apartment. It was not "modern" as we thought from the description, but was spacious and clean with a good-sized balcony. (The downstairs rooms appear to have very little privacy on their balconies). There was the usual old rusty 2 ring cooking hob, which did work, and the usual assortment of cutlery and crockery. There are no large cups, so you will need to take your own mug if like me you like a decent-sized cuppa in the morning! There is no TV, toaster, or microwave, which was no problem for us, and no Wi-Fi in the room, although it is accessible in reception and at the bar. The beds were basic and creaked loudly every time we moved, but we found them comfortable, air-conditioning is in the bedroom only. The maid called every second day, with towels and sheets changed twice a week. The shower always had plenty of hot water during our stay and is powerful enough. Virtually no rooms appear to have a pool view , all look out over the local farmland which borders the Manine. Farm dogs can often be heard barking all hours day and night, but with the balcony doors shut you can't hear much from outside when in bed. The pool is just about big enough and has steps into the shallow end which is much better than ladders. We did not like the bees hovering around the edges of the pool throughout our stay though, this did put us off going into it. Reception is supposed to be open all day until 11pm, but nearly always there is nobody there. Ava is a lovely helpful person and can usually be found eventually, but not always, which can be frustrating. All-in-all decent basic clean Greek accommodation, we just expected slightly better for the...
Read morePlease stay somewhere else!!!! We stayed as a party of 4, with 3 rooms. Our room didn’t have hot water in the morning and their response was that we needed to wait until 9 or so. Our friend’s rooms, which were not near the office, had no Wi-Fi and it wasn’t addressed. The beds were hard, cheap and you were able to feel the springs. We were all sore in the morning. There was only a sheet covering the bed, no mattress pad or anything. If you are a couple and would like to snuggle this is not the place for you. The mattresses are on wooden framed boxes that when pushed together leave about 8-inch gap. There is only a sheet for covering and a thick winter blanket in the closet that didn’t feel like it had been cleaned for ages to cover up with.||I mistakenly made the wrong date and they charged us 50 euro, I understand that it was my fault but many times when someone makes a mistake and is going to stay, they don’t cancel, and they have rooms available, it is free of charge. The owners were not around very often but when they were there they said we had to buy all alcohol from them. Well maybe if we could predict when they would be around. Were we supposed to randomly guess when they would be there? They didn’t open the office at any regular time so if we had any questions they weren’t there to help. The maid cleaned only once during our stay and when we asked for towels another time when we came back in she didn’t do anything to tidy up even make the beds. The owner’s child was able to run around screaming in the pool area, up the stairs and so on, when he liked. I would definitely never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.||||Pros: the location was good and my husband said the breakfast was good (not included in...
