Booked direct via email, wish had booked via Booking.com or similar as would have got loyalty points and a better room rate. Communication excellent prior to arrival. On arrival Sophia sends you a key code to let yourself in through the door to the side of the office. If you have luggage - there is no lift/elevator so not great for those with mobility issues as your room could be 2 or 3 floors up. Sophia said she would pop by later that evening as we needed to pay her. We didn’t see Sophia, there is an office space at ground level which is permanently locked and maybe she meant she would be there and we should ring the bell - so do this if you are unsure where she is, she could be out the back when she is on the premises. However we didn’t know we had to do this as Sophia did not mention that in her welcome messages. |Anyhow - apartment spotless but no tea or coffee, nothing apart from 2 small bottles of water in the warm fridge. Shower/bathroom tiny and the shower hook was broken. All rooms seem to be single beds. All seem to have balconies, it’s nice and quiet. |Stock up in a local shop if you need supplies - we wish we had done this as when we did meet Sophia early the next morning she said there was no breakfast available. I really wish she had mentioned this in her messages the day of our arrival or in earlier emails as we could have picked something up. Or we could have negotiated a discounted rate. Sophia said that the week before the breakfast person/supplier had left so it was something she was aware of prior to taking our booking/arrival.|Despite this Sophia requested €130 cash in the morning which we paid. We were v hungry by now as we’d read such glowing reports of the breakfast which was included in our room rate. We had an early ferry and fortunately Sophia gave us a free lift to the ferry port. We were very grateful (and relieved) about this. |We were a bit worried where she was first thing but - again ring the office bell from the street outside and then Sophia appears. (BTW, pick up from airport is an extra not a favour, it’s much cheaper to book that online with a taxi company). Thank goodness she did as there is no way you can walk to the ferry |terminal with luggage from |anywhere in Lavrio to be honest. |The apartment is v close to the harbour , lots of nice places to eat within a 5 minute walk but the harbour, as Sophia pointed out to us , is not the same as the ferry terminal. |I am sorry to leave anywhere disappointed but I’m afraid this was the case here, the lift to the ferry redeemed Sophia but the breakfast we had paid for but did not receive and the lack of any essentials in its place so we could make our own coffee prior to a v early ferry departure just made us...
Read moreSophia is our Greek guarding angel. We felt the luckiest tourists in Lavrio to have such an amazing guide, friend, host. Not only did she reply to all our messages in a very short time before our arrival but she made sure to be at the airport even before we landed to make sure we wouldn’t wait. Her enthusiasm and cheerful personality is contagious and you’ll never want to leave her side again. We have never met such a helpful host before, and you won’t either. :) the first night we arrived at the hotel we were unsure if we should visit the temple of Poseidon because we had just little time the next day before our ferry was leaving to the island. So after we decided it would probably not make sense, she offered to take us there herself and wait for us in the car until we visit it. Can you believe that? She genuinely wanted us to not miss out on this opportunity and also made sure we would get back to the ferry in time. All the while sharing stories about Greece or her experience with the hotel. The hotel was cute, cozy and clean and we got an aaaamazing breakfast in bed. What a service !!! When we came back from the island we stayed with her only the second night in Lavrio but she made sure to pick us up from the ferry and take us to the other hotel where we reserved (as she was fully booked) and even made sure we’re comfortable in the new location. All in all, our experience in Lavrio was greatly improved because of Sophia and we promised to come...
Read moreI had to spent a couple of weeks in Lavrio for work in September 2020 (so pretty much in the middle of covid) and I completely forgot to write a review when I got back.
The host, Sophia was an absolute angel. I don't require much, but she went above and beyond to clean the room every day and bring me breakfast every morning. She even came to pick me up from the port in Athens after a day of work on an island!
To be honest, it basically felt like having an aunt take care of me during those 2 weeks of work :D
On top of this, it is very accessible and I could park the car a few meters away from the place. From the apartments you can access everything Lavrio has to offer in less than 15 minutes on foot. The restaurants are nice too.
This is probably one of the best stays I've had during a business trip (and I've had A LOT), even more when considering that most hotel/apartments had terrible service during covid.
Sorry for the late review Sophia!! I hope you and your family are doing great...
