Welcome to the Second Hotel in Kastellorizo—a marvel curated by the infamous French curator, Marie Rivalant-Lazarakis. This architect and hotelier has transformed this island's historic structures into a dreamy haven, steering away from the common Grecian whites to embrace warm, Asia Minor-inspired spice hues with vibrant, rainbow-colored glass.||Upon my arrival, Morgane warmly greeted me and graciously handed over the keys to my room "Mongole," offering a breathtaking view over Kastellorizo's enchanting 'Kordoni' harbor—a soothing vista that melted any travel fatigue away.||This artistic retreat comes alive with quaint terraces for dining and sipping drinks, a cozy lounge, charged laundry service, and complimentary WiFi. In the rooms, you’ll find a Nespresso coffee machine (tea kits available upon request), a minibar with the first round of drinks on the house, beach essentials like hats, bags, and flip-flops, along with complimentary bottled water and luxurious Olive Era bath products.||The timing of my visit in early October, just as the season was winding down, added to the charm. With only a handful of staff, the hotel felt like the creative abode of an arty friend—left entirely at your disposal. I stayed at Casa Mediterraneo for 10 days in September 2023, and it turned out to be a magnificent holiday. The premises are well-designed and immaculate, yet also rustic enough to fit with the surroundings thanks to the brilliant use of natural (and eco-friendly) materials. The staff, including the manager, Laura, are extremely kind and attentive to details. I had the pleasure of meeting staff and seeing some of the premises of Hotel Mediterraneo (across the harbour) and the affiliated cafe/bar, Deli Mediterraneo, where staff are equally friendly and attentive. The Deli has a great location and together the three Mediterraneo locations creates a little community with a dispersed/relaxed boutique resort feel, each which bears witness to the keen eye for design/details of one of the owners, Marie Rivalant (whom I had the pleasure of meeting). The location is excellent and it has a great view catching sunsets, which is only sometimes very slightly spoiled by the grey and low hum of one of several Grecian navy ships which frequents the port (the sound being a minor issue, solved by closing shutters, applicable to only one of these vessels insofar as...

Second Hotel in Kastellorizo by infamous French curator Marie Rivalant-Lazarakis. The architect and hotelier has revamped many historic buildings here, including the trio of mansions that make up this homey bed and breakfast, which rejects the typical Grecian palette in favour of Asia Minor-inspired spice hues and rainbow-coloured glass.

It was early October - almost end of the season. There are only a few people working at the hotel hence it feels like your arty friends’ home totally left for you to enjoy.
