Step into the world of Lazarakis, a gem nestled in the heart of Kastellorizo's mesmerizing 'Kordoni' harbor. This isn't just any other restaurant; it's the soulful creation of Yorgo Lazarakis, husband to the renowned curator, Marie Rivalant-Lazarakis.
Yorgo himself stands tall at the entrance, welcoming guests with a vibrant smile and a hearty "Kalimera." His presence is unmistakable, as he shares his daily fish recommendations with an enthusiasm that captures the authentic spirit of island life.
During my visits, I indulged in meals that were nothing short of art on a plate. For dinner, I savored a Dakos salad, perfectly grilled octopus, a myriad of mezes paired with Ouzo, and a delightful grilled seabass. Lunch was yet another feast with the incredible shrimp linguine that danced delightfully on my taste buds.
His right-hand man, Dimitri, mirrors the genuine warmth and hospitality that Kastellorizo is famed for, perfectly complementing Yorgo’s laid-back yet attentive style.
For the ultimate experience, snag a table on the jetty, letting the harbor's enchanting views be your backdrop while you sip on a crisp Mythos beer or an aromatic Ouzo.
Lazarakis is not just strongly recommended—it's a must-visit for those craving a blend of culinary artistry and genuine...
Read moreBest grilled calamari on the island; We've stayed 5 days on the island so i know most of the restaurants. The owner is ok but not so kind and friendly as the most of the people from this Island. As one of the other reviewers said he is a little bit too much money oriented; maybe because his restaurant has the best position in "town", right in the center, next to water, with a small dock (the only restaurant that have such) and is almost all the time fully booked. It's not so expensive but the prices are at the top limit of what you find in Kastellorizo. It doesn't have the best food in town but the ambient its great and the overall experience it's good.(this restaurant and Alexandra's restaurant). I recommend to try it.
For the best food I eat on Kastellorizo I recommend Mandraki restaurant (it's on the other side of the island, into a smaller bay area - i think it's the new side of the island). Grilled or fried kalamari, grilled octopus and oisters are amazing in Kastellorizo. Unfortunately we have been there only 1 time because we discovered it on the last day. I will definitely...
Read moreThis is Dimitri. The service he offered us was impeccable and the Lazarakis taverna has offered the best quality and most consistent food despite some of the local tongues wagging about the prices. Apart from all the standard fare you’d expect - which was all done so well - there were a few really special items for example the garlic and butter prawns and the grilled whole fish. The location is also ideal - especially if you secure yourself a place on the extended promenade. Incidentally 21 years ago a group of us sat at the tables on September 11 and watched the twin towers fall. It is nice to know that in spite of the years and everything that’s transpired since, Lazarakis’...
