POOL –positive - lovely and clean. Never overcrowded Negative – no lifeguard (or certainly no visible guard); pool closes at 6pm exactly. If you’re not out of the water, you will be stared at and harassed until you get out.
LOCATION -very quiet. Advertised as 20 minutes’ walk from Sidari, which is probably about right. Taxis are €6.
However, the road doesn’t have a pavement for much of the way, and walking back after dark is not to be advised.
It’s too far out for me, and it’s distance from everything was a real shame – not near enough to just nip back to your room, so if you returned you stayed.
ENTERTAINMENT – I didn’t stay for this – seemed only to be a lively & pleasant barman, rather than any actual entertainment. I will say that the music was very loud after I’d returned in the evenings – enough to disturb you and prevent sleep. There didn’t seem to be a firm cut off – must have depended how many people were sitting at the bar drinking
RESTAURANT – there isn’t one. There was a cooked breakfast available – large €8 and small €6. I spoke to others who had this, and they said it was just ‘okay’. There were snacks of fries or toasties, but only until 3pm.
AIR CON – Studio €90/wk; and 2 bedroomed apartments are €140/wk. We didn’t purchase as I read others reviews in which people have sad they have been told to turn them off even after paying (not sure if true, but didn’t want to risk it).
KEYS – this is the strangest rule I have ever come across, despite travelling extensively. I was told that the room keys given to guests are master keys, and must be left at reception if you leave the premises. These as a sign explaining this quite clearly, and the fact that you will be charged €150 if you lose a key. Again, the rule is enforced as I found out when I returned one evening and was taken for questioning over why I hadn’t complied.
ROOMS – our was basic & dated, but that was to be expected for the price. However, towels are only changed every other day and bedding once a week. You may not request any extra towel or pillow -or rather, you can’t but you won’t get. At best, you will be looked down upon and treated as a trouble maker.
The rooms were ill equipped for self-catering – I know there were two of us, but I have never stayed anywhere that literally supplied two (mismatched) mugs; two (mismatched) glasses; 2 spoons etc etc.
My personal opinion although cheap, and you get what you pay for, what I didn’t pay for nor expect was the rude and almost bullying tactics of the owner, husband and one of their sons. I do not appreciate being accosted and questioned, to be treated like I was being questioned over a crime.
Having now read other reviews, all I do can is advise you to read the negatives ones before booking. Some complaints seem so far-fetched, but it’s only when you are there will the realise the unfortunate truth. I also now expect some further bullying or gross personal comments from the owner after this review is published. However, I assure you that this...
Read moreDamia Hotel is amazing. The pool is beautiful it's big and there is enough room for everyone and sun beds. Mrs Damia was waiting for us when we arrived at 1am our flight was delayed so much. She was wonderful we were shown to our rooms where they has provided water and she delayed our check in till the next morning so we could sleep and also let us buy a drink from the bar. Our rooms were lovely just what you need for a self catering holiday. Fridge hob pans cutlery and plates and glasses. Our room was thee best i have to say it was wonderful. There is air-conditioning thats an added bonus and a must for a comfortable sleep its extra but with the price of electricity it cant be helped and completely understandable we were happy woth the price. Mrs Damia son Demetri was so friendly and is so funny. He and my son and husband got on so well playing pool together. It is a family run business and we will be back the maid service was amazing and the staff keep everything lovely. If you happen to get an ice frappé omg it was the best thing ever by the pool. The twins that work behind the bar are always smiling and friendly the whole holiday was made so much better because of that family. Thank you to you all for making our holiday wonderful. Love the...
Read moreI want to start this review by saying that Corfu is a beatiful island and I enjoyed a lot the time spent into the greek landscapes!
But… I think we have had the worst place to stay at Damia’s Hotel in Sidari! I would not recommend to anybody to spend money there. Our room was so smelly and all the furniture was old and with mold smelling desgusting. The bathroom was full of mold and always wet. We have had luck with the poor lady that was cleaning every two days… The very old TV was not functionating and I almost got fire from the toaster! I think the owner should invest into new furniture!
Another thing that bothered me a lot was that the breakfast was included in the price of the room but it was so disappointing: only eggs and some few cakes everyday, not even a vegetable, nothing! I have never had a breakfast that was so bad, honestly! But there is more: IF YOU WANT A BETTER FULL BREAKFAST YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! I know greeks are very warm and they respect a lot their clients but I was very surprised to not find it at all at Damia’s.
Good luck with improving your services! It was very disappointing from my...
