We are 5 days into our week long stay as a family of 5 with three teenagers. We usually do all inclusive resort style holidays so was unsure how this would compare, we couldn't be more pleased!||I'm a travel agent in the UK and will break the review down into key areas, this will be what I will feedback to my customers, I booked this through easyJet holidays as their price for flights and accommodation was unbeatable! ||Location|The villas are located in Methoni about an hours drive from Kalamata airport. EasyJet holidays provide a private taxi transfer which was seamless and the driver was waiting for us when we left arrivals.||We didn't hire a car on this trip and the resort centre is just a 5-10min walk away where there are multiple bars and restaurants and the beach. The beach beds and parasols tend to be part of one of the bars so rather than a hire fee there is a minimum spend at the bar.||There are two small supermarkets to get your essentials from and a lovely bakery selling a wide variety of breads and fresh sweet and savoury pastries. We tended to go there for lunch or grab some bread ham and cheese from the shop to make toasties on the panini maker in the villa. ||Villa|Out Villa was gorgeous pristinely clean and upon check in you choose how often you want to opt for cleaning. Pool towels are provided which is a great touch! Our Villa had two bedrooms, one with an en suite jacuzzi bath and then a sofa bed in the lounge, a well stocked kitchen and two large balcony/terrace areas. The villas are modern with great air con and the showers are hot and powerful! We really couldn't fault anything at all about it.||Food and Drink|Breakfast was provided each day, a selection of hot meats and eggs plus fresh backed pastries, breads and cakes. Beautiful homemade jams and marmalades and fresh orange juice. All delicious! The pool bar is lovely and reasonable priced the food is absolutely delicious, all home made and fresh- the pizzas are huge and delicious and can easily be shared! They also offer room service which we haven't used but what a treat! Cocktails really nice, fresh with premium spirits.||Pool|We couldn't believe our luck- travelling in the middle of August and quite often we were the only ones at the pool! Zero issues with reserving sunbeds or anything like that. The pool area is lovely and clean including the toilets and showers. As I mentioned earlier pool towels are provided and can be changed as you wish. ||Service|The service here is impeccable, everyone is so friendly and can't do enough to help you. I feel like this holiday gave us everything we like from our usual resort holidays such as towels, lovely food and drinks, a modern clean and spacious villa whilst also having the freedom and space to be al a slower more relaxed pace and exploring the local area of Methoni. I've always associated self catering or bed and breakfast apartments with older more run down accommodations without the mod cons but this really does give the luxury of a new modern resort with the friendly service of a small family...
Read moreWe stayed here for 14 nights and found our hosts very welcoming from the moment we arrived (after 11pm) when Fotini insisted on helping to haul our suitcases from the coach to our rooms, to the time we left, which was late afternoon when she managed to re-jig the room bookings so that we were able to use our room until 2pm instead of having to vacate at 11am.|Nothing was too much trouble and the service was friendly and efficient at all times, from explaining how the safe worked to getting the shutter door fixed within a couple of days when I accidentally broke the latch as I closed up one night, to organising a hire car for us.|On arrival we were told that their standard room cleaning cycle is 3 days but if we wanted they would attend more frequently. We are not particularly dirty so opted for the 3-day standard which is more than adequate. Several times we found our sheets, towels etc changed more frequently than this anyway, for whatever reason :-) The whole site was kept spotlessly clean including regular swabbing down of the poolside area in the mornings and weekly garden maintenance.|The rooms are laid out like a series of semi-detached bungalows. Ours looked out over a couple of fields containing livestock which we felt was preferable to some of the other rooms which have verandas facing other rooms or the car park. If you like the rural view I'd suggest opting for rooms 121-128. These get the sun on the verandah from early in the day but are more shady later on. Rooms are spacious with full size cooker and fridge if you feel like self-catering. The bed was huge. The bathroom was similarly spacious and had a very effective shower. The air conditioning unit is mounted outside the room so all you hear is the ducted air in the room.|We stayed on a B&B basis: Breakfast was comprehensive and catered for most people's requirements with all the usual stuff you find in tourist hotels. I feel it could have done with a bit more varied fruit selection to have with the Greek yoghurt (we supplemented ours with peaches, nectarines etc from the supermarket) although apricots did appear on the buffet towards the end of our stay.|The pool is just about the right size for the use it gets. It has a shallow section for kiddies and also a jacuzzi corner, and is just about long enough at its longest point to make swimming lengths a reasonable option if you feel so inclined (which I did). The pool bar is well equipped and we often had lunch here too. The food is of a good standard and reasonable value.|And on top of all this Fotini and Katarina helped me with my stumbling attempts to speak Greek, correcting me and teaching me new phrases, genders of nouns...
Read moreWhat a special place to stay. From the moment we arrived, to when we sadly left, we were made to feel so incredibly welcome by the owners of this wonderful hotel.|We stayed in a junior suite which was beautifully decorated and very well equipped to give us plenty of space and ample storage. There was a kitchenette with full size oven & hob, a full size fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee machine - perfect if you choose to self-cater.|The bathroom was spacious with a sizeable shower, fluffy towels and full-size toiletries (hand wash by the sink and shower/hair wash in the shower, moisturisers and soaps).|We were fortunate to be able to look out from our terrace at adjoining fields with goats, chickens, sheep and cows… the whole area was so peaceful and quiet… blissful! |Breakfast was plentiful with plenty of choice; excellent freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious coffee… not forgetting local honey with yoghurt and local pastries.|The closest restaurant is excellent and only a few steps away, only a few metres further to the sea and then to the town where there are more excellent restaurants, a few shops and wonderful bakeries, and, of course, the castle and fort which is well worth a visit!|Methoni is small and quiet, local people with established local services… a true taste of Greece. |I would recommend hiring a car. We found a hire car place (Foinikounta Car Rental) which delivered and collected a hire car to our hotel at a reasonable price, this allowed us to see more of this beautiful area.|You will not be disappointed if you choose...
