Hotel Filoxenia Beach — Hotel in Municipality of Rethymnon

噩梦酒店，千万别看了网上假照片上当！If you book this hotel, it will be the beginning if your nightmare!!! We booked “ Loft Suite” but the hotel owner assign us a double room, with the excuse the hotel is full, and he said this room is better, of course no refund of difference from hotel’s part. Whole hotel there is no lift, so you have to take the heavy luggage by yourself, no one will help you,listening even the bad joke of owner “ the fault of women is there is luggage ”. On the web they wrote till 22 check-in but in reality is till 21, then they will close whole reception, nobody there after. The room is smelly and dirty, bed so hard like to sleep on the wood table, the bathroom fell down in pieces the shower, nothing to hold the shower head and tube, no amenities of shower gel and shampoo, you have to prepare by yourself, when you shower water comes on the floor like a lake and surrounded the toilet and comes in the corridor, the water in the sink of the washbasin doesn’t go down. The little glass table in bedroom is broken already. The balcony you can’t use because you find the air condition outside part exactly there throwing the hot air and noise to you.Don’t be surprise when you pass in front the reception in the morning, there are dog and cat at reception, the receptionist is with her breast outside giving milk to her son, of course the grandmother after touched the baby will prepare you the breakfast, the breakfast are out on the bar table very high next to the table of reception, you can’t even see the food, if you want water and coffee they will charge you apart without telling you before, the coffe is worse then the brash of the ** of dog. If you have car you will have big problem for parking, because out of hotel is a narrow commercial road with double directions, impossible to find at all the parking place, or you have to search 2-3 hours. The hotel owner tried to give us the already gone bad whole black banana for welcome, of course we don’t want to be ill and we don’t eat. The hotel is very far from Rethymno city, you need a car to drive there! At the entrance of your room door you will find always the rubbish and room service remaining food of other rooms. The location of this small hotel is right on the beach with a lovely veranda and pool area but unfortunately this is the only positive aspect. ||The hotel urgently needs renovations and a general clean up. Everything from the curtains to the towels, linen and furniture are old and dilapidated . The interior of the rooms and passages need proper cleaning and painting . Dirty linen in bags were stacked on the landings which looked untidy !||The bathroom is a disaster - very small with a shower over a tiny bath - you can not turn or bend and everything gets wet. ||When we arrived and saw our room it was so tiny we could hardly get our luggage in. Eva said that the square meters of the rooms are mentioned on Booking.com but one does not realise how small it is until you see the room. Eva was kind enough to offer us a bigger room which was better but still a tiny bathroom and tatty interior and cheap linen and old towels. ||At this stage already I asked Eva if we could cancel or stay for a shorter period but she was not accomodating at all and insisted we can not cancel or shorten our stay. We decided to leave one day earlier as we could not enjoy our holiday. When we checked out we had to pay for 4 nights although we only stayed for 3 nights as Eva was still adamant to take the full amount . I feel she could have been more accomodating as I told her right from the start we wanted to cancel or stay shorter. ||The price is way to high for what you get. Such a beautiful hotel we had a fantastic week there.|The location is amazing. All the staff were fabulous,nothing too much trouble..Eva the manager was fabulous,so friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast is lovely and plentiful. |Plenty of sunbeds and parasols which were free to use and lots of beach towels available all day. This was a great bonus as many places charge for sunbeds etc. |Our room was large ,comfortable and very cool with the much needed air conditioning.Shower was a little small but still useable . |There are toilets and a shower available at the hotel when you are on the beach or terrace, which saves you having to go back to your room . |Rethymno old town about 25 mins walk . We would get a taxi into town and take a slow walk back when it was cooler.
