Haraki Bay Hotel — Hotel in Municipality of Rhodes

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful two weeks at the superb Haraki Bay Hotel Apartments, late June 2023. In over 30 years of holidays primarily around the Mediterranean, these apartments have been by far the best appointed self-catering accommodation, complemented by the most friendly and personable team of staff.||Recently completed in 2021/22, the block of 8 apartments is situated on the quiet street just behind the Haraki Bay Hotel and only 2 minutes walk to the beach. Each apartment overlooks a delightful immaculately maintained garden. This road is a cul-de-sac with only an occasional vehicle accessing the neighbouring holiday apartments.||Our apartment had air conditioning in both the bedroom and lounge areas, televisions in each room with a comprehensive range of multi-language channels, and ample wardrobe storage space, including hangers.||The bed was very comfortable, particularly for those who prefer a firmer mattress, with linen changed frequently.||The bathroom was spotlessly clean with a modern drench head shower and hot water all times of the day. Hand and bath towels were provided and changed frequently.||The kitchen was fully appointed with a full sized oven, 4 ring induction hob, family sized fridge freezer and even a dish washer.||The room was serviced daily, with all waste bins emptied, and floors thoroughly swept and mopped.||Our ground floor balcony faced south which meant that it was in full shade in June, perfect for dining around the large table, or relaxing with a book and drink without being frazzled by the intense sun.||Chris and her team at the Haraki Bay Hotel were a delight and we were treated as though we were family throughout our stay. From the late night check-in to our evening departure, we were greeted with smiles, humour and the most amazing service. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff transformed a great holiday into a fabulous holiday.||We followed the advice from the hotel and booked a local taxi (by WhatsApp) for transfers from and to Rhodes airport. Booking and confirmation was very professional, and the drivers were on time and very friendly.||The restaurant at the Haraki Bay Hotel was one of our favourite in the resort, so much so that we dined here every day during our second week. We quickly realised with the generous portions of the main course dishes we were better following the locals practice of ordering several hot and cold starters and one main course, grazing across all. Prices across the resort were fairly consistent.||Haraki is a delightfully quiet resort, primarily based around a small bay fronted by restaurants and holiday apartments that directly access the promenade behind the beach. The beach itself is sand and shingle, so wet shoes were popular, with plenty available to purchase in the 3-4 holiday supermarkets in the resort. The beach shelved fairly steeply so it only took a few steps over the shingle shoreline to reach sufficient depth to swim. This probably isn’t an ideal beach for toddlers unless fully supervised. Sunbeds and parasols were available to rent, with shower stands peppered along the beach. There were even a couple of changing boxes to save wrestling with towels.||A 20-30 minute walk from the resort takes one to the adjacent golden sandy beach of Agathi. This gently shelving beach was popular with local families, particularly at the weekend, and the offshore floating water park looked to be enjoyed equally by children and adults. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols for rent, and two beach snack bars, with toilet facilities.||Day time activities in Haraki are essentially centred around the beach, although it is possible to ascend the hill behind the resort to reach the impressive ruins of the Feraklos Castle, with stunning views south towards Lindos, and north towards Tsambika. Kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and small motor boats are available to hire within the resort for trips to neighbouring bays, and a skippered keelboat sailing experience for those wishing something more adventurous.||Evening activities in Haraki are all about enjoying a wonderful meal, wine, good company, and peace and quiet. This is not a resort for those wishing a party experience, and with that comes the relaxing charm of Haraki.||Our previous holiday in Rhodes was in 1991 to Pefkos when it was little more than a sandy beach and handful of apartments and tavernas. Несомненно, значительную роль в столь высоком рейтинге играет одноименный ресторан отеля.|| Этот ресторан мы с громадным удовольствием посещаем уже три года. Здесь с доброжелательной помощью поваров и официантов мы смогли вникнуть в тонкости греческой и средиземноморской кухни. насладиться неведомыми ранее блюдами, в беседах с персоналом получили полезную инсайдеровкую информацию по острову, убедились в безграничности греческого радушия и их симпатий к русским. || Ресторан «Хараки Бэй» - заведение особое. Среди других родосских ресторанов и таверн он выделяется удобным расположением на первой линии от моря, выносными столиками под тенью развесистых шелковиц и пальм, быстрым и доброжелательным обслуживанием и, самое главное, - высочайшим качеством кухни как по вкусу блюд, так и по их громадным размерам.|| Заведение семейное. Общее управление ведет Севастия, ее супруг Йоргас - шеф-повар, а гостей обслуживают их сыновья Николас и Манолис. Семья долго жила и занималась ресторанным бизнесом в Нью-Йорке, но затем вернулась к своим корням, чтобы превратить рядовой ресторанчик Хараки бэй в настоящую жемчужину у моря.|| |||| |||| Кухня и меню||||Меню ресторана поставлено Йоргасом. ||Для туристической деревушки оно весьма обширно - за сотню наименований блюд из мяса, рыбы, морепродуктов, овощей и трав, а также местных сыров и молочных продуктов, что позволяет удовлетворить любые вкусовые привычки и вкусовые пристрастия. Философия кухни проста и включает - сезонность, то есть используются исходные продукты, вызревающие и набирающие вкус к данному времени: ||-свежесть - овоши и фрукты закупает лично Севастия, мясо - отбирает Йоргас, а рыбу и морепродукты по утрам поставляют местные рыбаки, оливки и оливковое масло собственное, фрукты - из фамильного сада или от соседей,||-виртуозность готовки - все, что должно быть сочным, сочится, зажаренное и запеченное имеет восхитительную хрустящую корочку, тушеное - тает во рту, кальмары и осьминоги нежны, а каракатицы держат вкусовой баланс моря и элитных грибов, ||-полнота блюд - размер свиной отбивной не менее 350-400 гр., говяжий стэйк - свыше 500 гр., рыба - по 300-350 гр. Московским стыдливым прятанием высоких цен в 100 граммах продукта Йогргас не пользуется. Напротив, в мясное, рыбное и иное блюдо как сопутствующий гарнир обязательно входит овощной салат, картофель, или рис, или овощи, или еще что-нибудь при особом пожелании гостей. Ресторан весьма популярен. По выходным здесь традиционно проводят семейные праздничные обеды местные островитяне, много туристов из Хараки, да и со всего острова. О популярности судить просто - за выходные гости потребляют до двух тысяч кефтедес (мясные шарики с пряными травами) , столько же долмы на виноградных листьях, под сотню кальмаров и каракатиц. Здесь убеждаешься в том, что в рыбе более всего нужна свежесть. Даже бюджетные сардины или мелкая кефаль по вкусу не уступают таким рыбным князьям и княгиням, как каменный окунь или барабулька.|| Винная карта разнообразна, включает фактически весь ассортимент греческих вин, широко представлены европейские вина, а также тяжелые напитки большинства известных брэндов. Манолис виртуозно сбивает наиболее популярные коктейли.|||||||| Цены вполне бюджетны даже по местным понятиям, а по сравнению с московскими ресторанами - они и вовсе доступные. Обширный полный обед на двоих с двумя-тремя подачами блюд, десертом и хорошим вином обходится в 50-60 евро. || Рекомендую к обязательному посещению.
