Electra Houses — Hotel in Municipality of West Mani

Four lovely stone-built semi-detached, raised ground floor houses on a quiet side street, a 5 minute walk from the beach and bakery (7 from the supermarket), with pool and full facilities, run by the best professionals I have come across in the 40 years of my travels. Location could not be better; it is on a quiet though easily accessible side road with little traffic, away from the hustle and bustle of the shops along the seafront. During our week-long stay (August, peak season) I only heard two noisy motorbikes come by. All we could hear in the morning were birds twittering, the hens and cockerel from the plot across the road and the sheep from the farm opposite. Evenings were nice and quiet. We stayed in the "Thimari" and "Vasilikos" houses, a two room and one-room apartment respectively (there were five of us). The former has a beautiful secluded verandah, tall ceilings and a wonderful sense of airiness about it. The latter has a balcony facing the pool, useful for supervising one's young! The rooms are sparkling clean and very well taken care of. Stone walls mean they don't get particularly hot. Although the rooms have air conditioning, we just used a fan to keep cool at night (which also keeps the mosquitoes at bay, incidentally). All windows have effective mosquito nets, but the odd mosquito will always manage to find its way in. "Thimari" has a full-size cooker, "Vasilikos" has a smaller bench-top oven and hob. Both have all necessary utensils. The pool is clean, decently-sized and appears to be well maintained. Stoupa's beaches are wonderful and really close so we never used the pool, but it should be great for families with small children. What really stands out is the service provided by Mrs. Electra, her family and staff. They have been incredibly helpful without ever being overbearing (a common trait with us Greeks!). Every step of the way, from booking to departure; from the bowl of fruit and tray of local nibbles provided upon arrival to information on happenings and gatherings in the area (concerts and the such), even lending us cushions for the hard theatre seats. Always available, always with a smile. All in all, six stars out of five; I cannot recommend Electra Houses highly enough. I tried to find a single gripe to make this review more balanced, but I cannot. Will we be here next summer?...

We visited Elektra houses together with our kids and grandchildren for a week. We were in good contact upfront so baby cod and baby chair were arranged. It seems nothing is to much for Elektra, she really knows all about hospitality. We rented one apartment and 2 studios for a group of 8. All were spacious and fully equipped, very good beds, clean kitchen and bathroom and housekeeping on a daily basis. Outside the garden and pool area is very well maintained. Poolarea has sufficient sunbeds and pool itself has a good size. Adults and the one and four year old children really enjoyed it. The beach is on a walking distance, even for the children no problem. We stayed here for our honeymoon, our hostess was so kind to bring us traditional pastries and a cute present. She is really a very kind and amazing person! We had an amazing time there, the pool was nice to cool down during the hot September days. The rooms are super tidy and comfortable. It is on walking distance to the beach and all the tavernas.
