We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Molyvos 1 hotel which we booked via Booking.com during our 2 week stay on the island.|The room we booked was described as a “road view” which we were a bit concerned about but it turned out that it wasn’t actually next to any road and had amazing views of the castle. Given the choice I would have chosen this room rather than a sea view room.|The room was exceptionally clean with a large comfortable bed.|The bathroom had the best shower we have had in Greece for a while with a glass screen and deep tray, so there was no flooding of the bathroom when having a shower.|The facilities in the room were few but adequate, the fridge was smaller than an under-counter fridge but enough for a few drinks and some complimentary water was provided. There was a television but no English channels and air conditioning was included in the price.|As it seems with most Greek hotels there was no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities.|The location was beautiful, set on a small cobbled street directly opposite the beach where sun beds were available at €3 each. The terrace also facing the beach was where breakfast was served and this was ideal as it is fully shaded in the morning.|Everywhere was within walking distance and we enjoyed one evening high up in the town and the second evening in the busy harbour.|The only thing I would fault was the breakfast, the fruit juice was incredibly watered down and we had much better at a 2* hotel we stayed at. Also the choice and quality of the bread was poor and there was no proper toaster just a breville sandwich maker.|The usual Greek yoghurt, peaches, watermelon and salads were adequate but there was nothing outstanding or different.|The inside bar lounge and outside terrace were lovely but we felt these were underutilised, there were very few guests using the facilities in the evening and this may have been due to the absence of any drink menus or prices. It seemed a shame that this wasn’t promoted more.|I would recommend anyone staying on Lesvos to have a night or two here to experience everything Molyvos has to offer and when you book via Booking.com the price includes the air conditioning, breakfast and room tax so there are no other extras to pay for.|I would have given 5* and the only reason for the 4 is that breakfast is most...
Read moreVery nice location opposite the beach, close to the centre of Molyvos and not too far from the harbour.||||The beach offers sun loungers and umbrellas at 2 euros each and also showers. It is stony as you walk in, but then becomes sandy. The water was fresh in late June and incredibly clear. Great place to swim.||||The palm trees between the hotel and the beach did block most of the view of the sea, but then again, they did provide green and shade.||||The breakfast buffet offered a good choice which could be taken outside under the trees looking over the beach. What I really liked is that although the buffet closed at 10am, this was "Greek time", so it was usually possible to pop back for seconds or another last cup of coffee before it is all cleared away. I do understand that a hotel needs to get on with other things, but I really dislike a strictly enforced sharp cut off time.||||The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the lady at the breakfast buffet. The reception manager arranged a laundry service to collect and deliver for us who did a very professional job, although it was quite pricey.||||Negatives:||The rooms are rather small.||||One towel rail was broken.||||The air con was over the entrance door in a lobby area and didn't cool the...
Read moreMolivos as a very cosy town is a perfect spot for history and architecture lovers. Wherever you stay, you will never regret the area. (However, if you are a fan of swimming in azure, blue water Molivos sea is not for you. It is not crystal clear or turquoise) Hotel Molyvos is just by the sea, but they do not serve you sunbed and shades. Their claim is that it is the public beach. They may have reserved a reasonable number of sunbeds and umbrellas for their guests as compliment because it is not a low price hotel. The room facilities are so poor. We stayed on the 1st floor just on the right handside corridor and the bathroom was disgustingly smelling cigarette/smoke, which shows there is something wrong with the air circulation. Breakfast is okey and fresh. The place is very suitable for families with kids in terms of closeness to the...
