Lovely holiday apartment s and studios located a couple of miles from SkiathosTown, very clean and comfortable. Ignore olympic holiday brochure photographs they are out of date. They have a cafe/bar where they serve breakfast and snacks, freshly cooked/made to perfection by Shalena. There is a very nice swimming pool. Owners and staff are very friendly and approachable and a lot of the other guests have stayed here many times. Close to bus stops, most single journeys are €2 (September 23) some a little more. Nice sandy local beach is a short walk from here. At the time Tavernas were charging €10 per day for 2 sunbeds and umbrella but you can also buy an umbrella for €15 from the local small supermarkets, which are also close by, and put a towel on the beach. The only thing we didn't realise was that self catering accommodation kitchen equipment in Greece is not same as you get in UK. We stayed for week each on Scopelos and Skiathos and both apartments had two electric hot plates. Filokalia also had a small oven. Eating out in the evening on both Islands cost around €40/50 for two people. Local wine at places we went to cost around €7 for 500ml a large beer was €4.50 or more depending where you were. Plenty of boats offering day trips to other islands and the marine park. We had a quad bike/ATV for 3 days on each island @ €35/day plus fuel, and got to go to beaches that bus route doesn't go to. All in all we had a great time and recommend staying at Filokalia, we will...
Read moreRecently returned from Filokalia and I was genuinely sad to leave. |There is a 'warm' And friendly feel here that comes from the passion of the family that run it. The place has been created as a labour if love, and it shows. The staff and owners make you feel so welcome, despite how tired they must be during the Skiathos summer. |So bit more detail...the beds are not the usual Greek experience, they're soft and comfy! Rooms are cleaned to a high standard and most have beautiful views to the sea. |The pool area is lovely, just the right size for us, not too big to lose a tranquil atmosphere. There is a Greek night once a week, but otherwise the bar has a chilled and friendly vibe.|The bar has a great selection of snacks and meals, along with cocktails. I have to mention Apostolos, who runs the bar in the evenings. He is incredible, takes pride in what he does and will make you laugh, give you useful information and generally make the bar area a great place to be :) |It takes 5 minutes to wander down to the lovely beach where the water taxi takes you to Skiathos town regularly. Busses are regular too. |By far the biggest asset this place has is the warmth of the family who run and care about the place and are dedicated to making your stay enjoyable, and it will be. |Thank you Alkis, Demi, Apostolos, Kevin, Shalena, and those two gorgeous boys for an amazing holiday. We...
Read moreWe usually stay in town when we visit the beautiful island of Skiathos, however after speaking to others we decided to try Achiladies resort which is only minutes along the ring road and WOW were we happy we did. |This accommodation is small but perfectly formed. Set back from the main road (5mins stroll) it’s set in idyllic surroundings with grass, trees, gardens and flowers. It has basic but perfect rooms, many overlooking the pool which is cleaned daily . The pool bar is open from 9am til you’re finished at around 1am, serving drinks, good food ranging from breakfast to pizza and lots in-between but don’t worry it’s not noisy and the double glazed balcony doors block out the sound as not only do they close properly, they lock too!|The showers actually hang on the wall with shower curtain and copious hot water. The cleaner pops in daily to empty bins, straighten the beds and mop floor. The air con is €10 per day but worth the money in peak season and safety boxes are only €10 for a week. The sun-bed mattress are actually a foot thick and very comfortable plus deck chairs are available around the pool area , which also hosts special Greek nights, which include traditional cuisine plus dancing! |This place is a gem and is well...
