Avoid this restaurant by all means necessary. We arrived on the ferry from Athens around 1:30pm, check-in for our hotel wasn’t until 3pm so we decided we would head somewhere for lunch. We searched up Taverna Skilithri on Google up as a suggestion. We headed down and parked in the restaurant carpark around about 1:40pm with our luggage in the boot came back around 3:30pm to find the front passenger window smashed into and all our bags gone.
I’m writing this now because it’s been 4 days now and the local police have done nothing. The owner had the footage of the burglary but took more than 24 hours to release this to the police. When he eventually gave the video footage, he cut out the first hour and the rest was given in little snippets, thus cutting out the bit where the bags were stolen. To me that’s tampering with evidence and something needs to be done! Another thing when we spoke to the manager he said “ohh that never happens here in Skiathos” but then in the next breath says “they normally throw it in the bushes then come out and pick it up later on..” As such we went searching through the bushes and find another guy sitting down. We asked him if he saw anyone and we did not ask him what he was doing there. His reply to us was catching some fresh air. Then he said what did they do smash a window?? We didn’t tell him that.. So what I’m getting at is this manager is up to it and whoever that guy was in the bushes was in on it too. Who withholds evidence for 24hrs after the crime, then cuts out the main part?! That to me is...
Read moreNever have I eaten worse food in Greece. And I can say I've been to a lot places in Northern, eastern and western Greece including some islands.
We were served the customary bread with olive pasta - the slices of bread were at least 2 days old, cold, without anything on it. It was honestly difficult to eat at all. We also ordered taramas- after all you are in Greece and the taramas is always good, right? Wrong- it was a tasteless dip of something that didn't even closely resemble fish roe. Not even the slightest taste of fish. Combine that with the cold bread that was hard to chew and swallow and you get the picture.
We also got a Greek salad - something that every restaurant in Greece serves differently. In some places it's great, in some other it's just some chopped vegetables with some cheese on top. In the case of Sklithri it was the second, but in the end that's OK. What was not okay was the grilled calamari that we ordered. It was so tough to chew, tasteless (yes, again) and a huge disappointment.
It's a pitty, as the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was indeed very romantic. Really a shame...
Read moreFood was good, prices are okay. Service was bad, unpolite and terrible timing with the food. The tables are very small and me and my girlfriend had seven plates, wine, water, bread and more on the table because they brought the main dish only 3 minutes into the salat and starters. Then they didnt take the empty plates for about 25 minutes. 😮💨 The bill was as usual more then you ordered. For bread and a small portion of smashed olives they usualy charge you 2-6€, doesnt matter if u eat it or not. It is "tradition" in Greece to let the customer pay for stuff he/she didnt order or eat. I hate that tradition! Its more like a scam to me. 🤬 Because i didnt want to pay the stuff we didnt order or eat, the waiters became very unpolite, extremly unprofessionell!!!! 🙄 I still wanted to give a tip, because thats a tradition where i cone from, but then the other waiter was also kind of an *#¥%hole, so i did not, probably for the first time ever.
4 out of 5 times in Restaurants during the first two days in our trip, they tried to cheat us, its more expensive here than western Europe so i dont get it. Tourism kills...
