Octopus Beach Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

I did not like it, i wanted to rate it 2 but i went for one when i saw stuff we didnt ordered on the bill.

So starting with this we did not order bread you brought it, fine but why bill us if we didnt order it ?

Its strange it has such a big score on maps, but i see many people rate it for location or drinks the ones talking about food have some honest review here and there which are dismissed tho as fake or false

Food : The starter octopus with humus, i didnt like the octopus as it was marinated then grilled, it wasnt a bad taste but the texture was not pleasant it was very messy, i usually found octopus boiled grilled or marinated, here it was marinated and grilled.

We did wait a bit for our main course even if we were two tables only.

The pork souvlaki was really tasteless it seemed grilled quickly lacking even salt, the fat wasnt slowly cooked to melt in the meat nor salted or peppered properly to be eaten, i really didnt think pork could be so tasteless, i ate boiled pork which had more flavour then this souvlaki.

Then the mint everywhere in yogurt its not very good it doesnt fit well with everything, it doesnt add flavor to meat or the bread which where the two dishes that had it ...

Bulgur i thought it was a side dish for meat souvlaki like rice or potatoes , but it was estetic mostly, why even mention it if there is less then a spoon of it ?

Tldr So overall not worth it at all, very expensive for mediocre food, added items to bill which was not requested, first time i also see tip request on pos. I would not reccomend it. Addind a picture so it cant be said its false .

Instead of replying just order and try it youreself and see if its something you would enjoy eating.

edit: oh finally after 3 months the review got approved its nice how the owner addressed zero of the issues i talked about but took the time to read my other posts, but you didnt scrolled enough i guess.

If a place is good i rate it 5 there is little to add, when stuff doesnt work i write whats wrong so...

We went to a lot of places around Skiathos but the only one we returned to again and again was Octopus Bar & Restaurant. Both me and my daughter loved it. The owners Thomas and Nick are lovely, welcoming and genuinely interested. It’s like you are new friends and part of the family. I can’t leave a review without mentioning Sandy, the miniature poodle who melted our hearts.

The design of Octopus is beautiful with a very cool vibe. It’s the perfect place to hang out, eat, have a cocktail, and look out to sea. The cocktails are really good (they actually know how to make a cocktail; unlike some places we found) and the food is amazing. You can tell a restaurant will have good food when the menu isn’t over multiple pages, which means freezer and microwave food. Everything at Octopus is made to a high standard. I highly recommend the feta in sesame and sunflower seeds in honey. It’s something else. I’m still dreaming of it now. The veal, chicken fillet and souvlaki are delicious too.
