Where to start? Another review below mine says they wished they could keep this hotel a secret. So do I. Because the fewer people who know about it, the fewer will get to experience this dump has to offer.||One positive is that I found the beds quite comfy and generally slept well. The view from sea view room is quite nice & it is very close to bus stop 12. For me, they are the only positives.||The hotel is old and dated. It is NOT easy to walk around with steps and awkwardly placed, hidden trip hazards at every turn. It’s also located on an extremely steep hill making it very difficult if not impossible for anyone elderly or with mobility issues to access. We queried this with TUI before we left and they assured us this was a very accessible hotel. It is, to young, able bodied people. If this isn’t you, trust me, you will struggle.||The pool is very very deep. Very very salty. And not very clean. The area around the pool is horrible. Old sunbeds, lack of umbrellas (despite the hotel claiming in a previous review they had added some) with uneven, rough, unfinished cement flooring surround the pool. The steps in and out if the pool feel like they are just about to come out the floor. ||Breakfast is quite literally horrendous. Our kids didn’t bother coming down for as much as a piece of dry tasteless toast. Two staff members watch on as ‘food’ and juices disappear and dirty tables stack up. Neither really seem to understand that their job is to replenish and tidy. No air con either so breakfast is a hot sweaty affair. ||Everywhere you look there are wires hanging out of walls and dead plants in tubs adorning the communal areas. Weeds growing in balcony planters. No thought or care about the image this hotel gives off which is 1 star doss house in my opinion. ||The hotel has one lift system operated by two separate lifts. As someone who is familiar with lift inspection reports neither should be in use. They are old. Dangerous and unreliable. Max of 2 people per lift. So as a family of 6…..floors missed and doors closing intermittently and unexpectedly. Use the stairs!!||Staff are not particularly helpful. One minute refusing card payments the next refusing cash. They are miserable & act as though we are always out to ‘con’ them. There are no details about what the hotel offers or can and cat do. The receptionist says nothing. No welcome literature in the room. Didn’t see a TUI rep once.||The hotel only lets you have one key card per room. They seem to think no one ever does anything on their own so will constantly cancel existing key cards if a new one is needed or will escort you to your room and open the door for you because they think you’re lying & want to run air con all day. ||There is a safe in the room but it’s old. Unsurprisingly they still charge €20 deposit for you to use it and you have to carry the key everywhere you go. The safe is small and does not accommodate a laptop, iPad or surface pro.||You can get a kettle from reception. You can get pool towels from reception. You can get an iron from reception . You wouldn’t know this as they don’t tell you. They don’t tell you because they don’t want you to ask. ||The hotel has a permanent whiff of sewage around it.||The ‘gym’ is the size of a box bedroom with no windows and not really any weights that we could see of. You probably have to ask at reception. ||No fire safety information in any of the three rooms we had so no idea what to do in the even of an emergency.||Overall we couldn’t wait to leave. I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t ever go back. I’d also recommend you change your booking if possible. ||I have hundreds of photos and videos to back up everything I’ve said above. ||And before anyone says anything I’ve been to Greece LOTS of times. This was third time back to Skiathos and I go again in 3 weeks. ||I know Greek hotels are not the same standard as U.K. hotels. But this place is a joke. It needs knocking down and...
Read moreHi, just got back from kanapitsa Mare hotel & spar in Skiathos . We went for a 11 day break. Now I think I'm quite a realistic and fair person and don't tend to complain about things . But when we turned up at the hotel for are long earned break and taken my last penny trying to save, I was totally shocked and infuriated at the standard of accommodation/room we were given. Iv been to 2star before which were a better standard then this !! And we paid good money for a 3 star plus !!! The room was smelly, fusty, and dirty. The paint work was splintering, and door frames with massive chips out of them and partly rotting by the looks of it. The lamp shades by the bed were filthy, with thick dark water/spillage marks on them. The paint on the furniture was chipped, and plaster work on the walls that looks like they had been bogged over and over with blobs left hanging then just painted over. My heart sank!!! My partner went to complain while I was left in shock. The lady at the reception was very sweet and tried to help, she showed us another room, which was just as bad, them she said she would show us an upgraded room if we still wasn't happy. So went to the third room and surprise surprise it was another room exactly the same !!!! I thought they must have it wrong, and they hadn't shown us the up graded one yet, but my partner kept saying this is it, I said no this is just the same lol only thing different was it had a nice view of the sea. And the mad thing was they tried to charge us £200. Or euros more, I kind of gave a nerves laugh and said no way, and that the room was NO DIFFERENT TO THE OTHERS, only slightly cleaner as in lamp shades and door frames better. So in the end they gave us that room for no extra charge. But the drains stunck and the shower went from boiling to freezing in 60 seconds daily. And the door would lock properly. Oh and the breakfast was very poor choice and virtually cold. And every morning was the same. So please don't waste your time and money booking this hotel... But despite the hotel we had a fantastic holiday in Skiathos, the scenery is outstanding and sea like you have never seen before ... Lots to explore and some fantastic tavernas to eat in. And as for Olympic who we booked with, or Tui they should be ashamed of themselves knowing the standard and state of this hotel, yet portraying something totally different in the brochures, and selling this holiday and taking innocent peoples hard earned money.when they clearly know the real deal. Yet there still taking peoples money...??? How the hell are they getting away with it??? Anyway hope this has helped anyone who is thinking about booking here..please enjoy Skiathos, but book...
Read moreThis is an honest review and reflection of my 7 night stay. We had 3 rooms with sea view on 2nd and 3rd floor. Me, my partner and 4 teenage children. 20,18,18 and 15. ||Good location close to bus stop 12 and next to supermarket. But the hotel is dated and looks its age. ||Hired a car and found plenty of parking on the steep approach to hotel. Not for anybody with mobility issues. Reception was brisk with emphasis on getting the tourist tax €70 x 3 based on it being 4* lol the irony. ||First thing we noticed was smell of sewage. From turning into hotel to our bathroom. No excuse it’s disgusting and needs addressing. ||The lift is ancient. I used the stairs but if I was on higher floors it’d be hard going. One room key. In 2025 this is ridiculous and unacceptable. If people leave air con on then maid can simply remove it. We’re not all imbeciles. Room was clean, plenty of storage and good view from balcony. Very comfy bed and pillows and air con worked fine. Fridge was added bonus. No kettle or tea making? Hello 4*? Maid was very good and towels changed daily. ||Breakfast. Plenty of choice but not replenished fast enough and of very poor quality. Fruit juices in my opinion were inedible. Kids didn’t come down for it after first morning. Pool towels are available but you won’t know unless you ask. Just bad communication. Gym room was inadequate in every way possible and looked like it had never been used. ||Pool area. Pool too deep 3 metres? Dirty. Not interested in previous reviews and not interested from sarcastic response from hotel management it wasn’t cleaned. Grouting of all tiles covers in scum and water murky. Deepest pool I’ve ever been in. Soulless and sterile. Offering no reason for guests to stay. No happy hour no themed evenings. Disinterested staff. ||Most note worthy is that there was no emergency literature (or any literature) regarding fire emergency. ||All in all very disappointed and tui really need to check the star rating of hotels offered. I don’t care about facilities if those facilities are of poor standard. These were of very poor standard. Wouldn’t re visit and...
