Good location, with direct access on a nice pebbly beach, supermarket and few restaurants in close vicinity. Many trees, shadow, birds singing. Toilettes and showers basic/old style (cheap shower heads etc) but allways clean. Fair to say that camping was mostly empty during our stay - early june - so we appreciated also the quieteness. On website check out time is 12o clock. After payment you receive a paper showing check out 10am. Wifi worked only the first day, not a big problem though.
These being said - we give 4* to this camping - and considering that zero* I give to Mr George who "welcomed" us in the reception - it results in the average of 2*.
More about Mr George you can easily find in the very strange and impolite replies he writes down here to the reviews he does not like. Most probably a nasty one will follow for me as well.
Why the 0* - When we arrived at camp (email and SMS for reservation remained unanswered) we parked our campervan outside the camp and went to reception to ask permission to see first our spot before making the requested advance payment. Mr George gave us the most unwelcoming attitude - talking to us and in paralel talking to a guy (construction staff inside) - while the barrier was still between us - and after keeping us waiting outside for a while he said that in order for us to see the camping we need to pay a 2eur per person - "tour tax" and that after the tour we will receive in return a coffee/welcome drink. I tried to assure him - we just need to quickly see the spot before paying - and in case we stay - then we need to still pay those 4eur or it can be deducted from final amount? No deduction and you pay upfront. Never again during our extensive travels on 3 continents we heard of such tax before you see the location. We are told that outsiders use this camp prior check/visit just for curiosity or to use the toillet and that security is very important and that his 7 months/years old child needs milk. Astonished.. Okeeey then let us do that tour. (Late afternoon, we preferred to lose those 4eur instead of paying few days stay if something not ok inside.) So, I expected him to show us what spot was available for us, where are the services like water in/out, toilet, camp rules and that is it. But nooo - this tour began with lots of talking, questionable history stories, some about a rock plated camper he has at entrance since Cypriot war, about Syria, talk about rosemary in his garden and usage, pregnant women - veeeryy long tour and unwanted talk we were frankly not interested in. At some point I made excuses that we are really tired, not a good time for history, sorry, pls show us the spot available for us - and when he agreed to finalise it we then decided to pay & stay. It was one spot in the mid/back line regretfully as he said all spots in the front - looking towards the sea - even though several were empty - are in fact already booked. (They cost double - that is 50eur per day for campervan with 2 adults but none available) Those empty spots looking at the sea remained empty every single day during our 3 days stay and all this time few more got free as well. And that coffee/drink never came. Did not want it anyway, surely.
Later EDIT: Further to Mr George's rude and out of place below comment to my honest review - what can I say other than: QUOD ERAT...
Read moreCompared to other Greek camps this one is a very good one.||||There are plenty of tent spaces to choose from. There is plenty of shade from trees. There are spaces near the beach. The common premises are clean enough. There is always hot water, even at night. The bathroom and toilets are ok. There are places to cook, wash & grill. There is a fridge and a freezer. They can machine wash your clothes for 5 Euro.||||The staff is very helpful and always at the reception, which works until 23:00. There is free WiFi near the reception.||||The campsite itself is very quiet and they have a "No disturbance after 23:00" policy. But there are other hotels/restaurants around. During our stay of 4 nights only 1 was completely quiet. On Saturday night until 2-3 in the morning there was a party somewhere on the beach. It was a pleasant mix of 80-90s classics performed live, but still the music was very loud. Of course the camp is not to blame, this is just a point for sensitive campers. like ourselves.||||It was very easy to get out of the camp and onto the beach at night to gaze at the stars. Also there is an amazing view of the sunset on the beach rocks to the right, just 200m from the camp.||||All and all we would stay again here if we came back to Thasos. Especially after reading the reviews of the Golden Beach camp and the arrogant attitude of their...
Read moreThis year has been our third visit in this camping and most probably the last one. We have spend 1 week here (all paid jn advance), gold pitch (70 eur/night) and each night the smell from the camping toilets (from the sewage system) was something hard to bare. The issue was known to camping Management who received also complaints before us. Also, the toilets & showers close to the gold pitches have not been renovated for ages. Furthermore, we had a huge issue with a bulgarian family located in the bungalows - a granny that, for several days în a row, woke us up at 7 o'clock in the morning, IN OUR LONG WAITED VACATION, in a loud voice speaking to her crying grandchildren (that were more agitated & fussy as she talked louder and louder). The beach seemed to be too far for her to take them în a quiet way. The camping administrators did little to solve the issue.
It's a pity as the camping has a great positioning (close to Pefkari & Potos), with a clear sea and lots of fish swiming close to the shore, lots of fun options in the area and a Masoutis supermarket at 5...
