First of all I think our experience in Skala Potamias begin under wrong auspices... we were in this holiday 6 adults and 2 children (mine 14 years old, and our friends child almost 4 year old)...First of all when we arrived there, we found our rooms booked by the owner to another people, so we have been redirected to another hotel (Hotel IOANNIS), much cheaper and one star below than Miramare .All of this on owner of Miramare money, Mr. Kutzner. So you can imagine go to the Ioannis hotel two days, unpack the luggages, stay there in poor conditions, than after two days repack and move to the Miramare all of this in 7 days...not comfortable at all !!( I almost forget...for all this discomfort we were rewarded by the owner with ONE FREE coffe...nice isn;t it?) || The Miramare hotel was generally clean and quiet, situated in a little nice forest. The sheets and towels was changed every day, the rooms were clean with AC, but the furnitures were a little bit older. Our bathroom were small and without any possibilities to refresh the air in it. We had only breakfast witch was pretty the same every day... boiled eggs, fried ham, little pieces of feta cheese, tomatoes, cheese cream, croissants, coffee and orange juice. It was for the first time in my life, when somebody shouted to my sister in law, that it was not aloud to go to the dinning room with her purse, i don;t know why !! In another morning our friends wants two fried eggs for their son, but the owner mother said this is not possible ( the owner mother was also the cooker and "busboy"). The hotel has also a pool with a pool-bar, the pool-bar was nice but the pool had really frozen water in it, so we did not used it, also the pool edges were not quite clean, no children play ground and no children area in the pool. The chairs on the edges were a little bit older and not quite clean. A lot of cats in dinning area and a big poster were you can read that if you feed cats they put the food on your bill...(the owner's mother was all eyes and ears...like with the purses of course...) All in this hotel was based on economy...no employees, no bus-boys,no pool carer, even the tv set ( by the way, was a quite large Samsung HD) was set on low consumption, the image was very low.|| Be aware they don't accept any credit cards !! I wonder why?||I don't recommend this hotel to the family with...
Read moreI never expect too much from Greek hotels but this was a pleasant surprise! ||The two people who worked at the hotel were so nice and helpful with everything we wanted to know about the island. They seemed a bit low and not that happy some days. A littlebit disrespectful towards our travel coordinator but who knows what was behind that. ||Very nice breakfast that had a wide variety, fast refills as soon as something ran out and a nice outside seating. The breakfast was one of the things that gave us a super good experience of the hotel. ||The rooms were nice and we really liked the fact that we could decide when we wanted the rooms to be cleaned if we wanted a lay-in or if the weather was bad and we wanted to stay in the room. ||Tv was ok but only three English channels (BBC, Al Jazeera and CNN) and around 400 German ones as the owners had previously lived in Germany and the hotel was very popular by Germans as a result of this. ||No insects seen, no cats seen, nothing like that I've seen in previous posts. ||Only really negative things were that they only changed the towels twice a week (really annoying actually), air conditioning wasn't included, refrigerator wasn't included and wifi was not included. Seems like they could have included these services to be honest as it is already not the cheapest hotel and the standard ok. ||Pool is very cold as previous posts state, leading to us only spending time at the beach as the sea was warmer. ||Overall a nice hotel and we recommend, recommend, recommend!! ||Thassos has so much to offer that you definitely don't need a restaurant...
Read moreWent to Thassos and Skala Potamias with my family in the end of June. The hotel is situated in lush green areas which gives the hotel a cozy feeling. The pool area is the highlight of the hotel. It's set right in the middle of all the greenery and lushness. Yes, the pool was quite cold but after spending time in the warm greek sun we enjoyed the refreshing temperature of the pool! ||From reading reviews of this hotel I've noticed people complain about the lack of an area dedicated for children. The travel agency we booked the trip through was very clear with that no children's pool existed. This was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. No children equals peace and quiet. Some days we had the pool almost to ourselves even though the hotel was at full occupancy. We thought this was the best place to spend our days in Skala Potamia when we didn't have our car. ||||All of the staff were helpful, friendly and kind BUT for the owner. His sarcastic and scornful smile greeted you every time you set foot in the reception area. He had a very superior and "Mr Know it all" attitude, not welcoming at all. An attitude very unworthy a hotel owner. Improvements on the customer service skills area would be much...
