We stayed at house "Eleftheria". The advert and the reviews claimed spacious rooms, access to the garden, bedding 6 adults, friendly and personal service, offers of local produce, free wifi at the houses. The reviews (of the whole of "Lithies") were favourable. So we tried it: Five adults and one child. We arrived and were shown to the house by a friendly girl, and that was the last that we saw of the "friendly and personal service" for the next ten days. We had some encounters of the cleaners once in a while, but that was that. There was no offers of any kind, and we had nothing that would betray the existence of them (eg a leaflet to buy anything or suggest anything). The house was indeed for for four adults (one double bed and two single ones), and there were one IKEA floor couch and one wooden bed, both of which anyone with a hight over one and a half meters would have serious trouble sleeping in (aka for children only). I am 1.83 (6feet) and needless to say, I suffered greatly (see pictures). Access to the garden was meant by the normal side door, as the door on the porch, that was supposed to be used -as in other houses- did not have any steps and was a 1m (3ft) drop if we used it with the kid. As for "spacious", excluding the kitchen/sitting room at the back of the house, the rest was cramped, bedrooms and "bathrooms" alike. I use quotes because they were WC with a shower curtain in them (see picture) where if you sat on the toilet, you had to hug the shower-curtain in your face, and when you showered, you splashed everything, and I personally hit my head on the window twice and my knee on the toilet and my elbow on the flush-tank, while resting the soap and toiletries on the sink (no shelf). We would complain, but we never had any contact with them, and even on the last day, we had trouble finding the owner, and getting the time-of-day (maybe they were avoiding us). Did I mention the wifi worked only from a corner of the front porch, and some of the time? I will not get into more details as they will remind me of how angry we all were at the time. We did not expect a cheap knock-off price, and neither did we pay as such. Still, being near off-season, we DID expect at least the advertised space. We would not stay there again. We expected more from them: At least what they advertised, and/or some care that they knew the house was...
Read moreI travelled with my mother for late summer self catering break to relax in some sun following knee surgery. ||||We arrived by taxi at the properties with no-one in sight to greet us. We had to get the driver, who spoke minimal English, to contact the one number I had. 20 minutes later we were shown to the property, Zoe. What a disappointment. The property was all dark wood and gloomy. No welcome pack of information, no basic provisions ie a bottle of water in the fridge would have been helpful. The hot water tap wasn't working in the kitchen which explained why the crockery, glasses and cutlery were smeary and unclean. No tea towels provided and no electric kettle! I believe we were meant to use the seized lidded one on the ancient cooker hob. There was no way we were going to be able to provide ourselves a meal in that 'kitchen'. ||||All mortifying and very disappointing especially as it was my idea booked the week for my Mother to have some sun as my Dad was too ill to travel. I fail to see how this is a self catering set up, I was certainly not prepared to be carrying hot water from the bathroom (as a neighbour in another of the properties was doing!). Even when I went to contemplate my bad choice there were no outside loungers to enjoy the weather. Buyers beware! PS we moved on after one night and found, clean, functional, homely,...
Read moreThis was our third stay Lithies Houses which must, in itself, show how much we love it there. Set in an organic farm, our stone - built apartment is just perfect. It’s not luxurious but extremely homely and comfortable. There’s a living area with kitchenette and shower room downstairs and a spacious bedroom upstairs. Fresh towels and bed linen are provided every few days. The owners Fotini and Dionysius are so warm, helpful and welcoming. We were given produce from the farm, eggs, veg’ and fruit and a bottle of their wine as a welcome gift.|Though there’s a bit of a walk to the beaches we enjoy that. There’s a supermarket en route to the beach who’ll deliver to the apartment. We’ll certainly be going again (and again) and highly...
