Lithies Taverna — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

I will start with a positive, the location. It's set in an absolutely stunning and serene setting, so beautiful. However and unfortunately that is where the positives end. We had high hopes for this Taverna but we left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. The service is far from satisfactory, felt very rushed and unwelcoming. My wife had pork souvlaki which was served raw. When we questioned this, we were made to feel we was at fault and it was our issue. After an uncomfortable back and fourth, our waitress agreed to have the pork grilled for a while longer. Unbelievably parts were still served undercooked, shocking, considering the simplicity cooking one of Greece's traditional and classic dishes. My wife ended up eating her meal long after I did due to this issue. My meal (grilled prawns) was ok, just not great. On payment, we were handed the bill, the waitress didn't leave, she just stood waiting for payment, thus not allowing us time to go through our bill (although we did, rushed) overall it was a very disappointing evening. The location looks very good, it’s like a garden with everything green around. The searving is weak, it takes too much time to order and also too much time to bring the food and the portions are a little bit smaller than usual. The lady who took the order did not speak english very well, ans could not explain us certain things we asked about the food, she also did not get the order right, we asked her to repeat the order, corrected it, but when the food came one kid didn’t get his pasta, everyone on the table had it’s food, but one kid who had to wait until they made one more portion. So the order we corrected before was not corrected at all in her notes. Also, i asked if they can show us a picture of a certain type of food and she told us “no, i don’t have pictures, we are not fast food”. Overall the attitude is superior and i did not like the place at all. Wow!!! This restaurant was an incredibly pleasure for all the family. A warm welcome in a beautiful setting. You get the impression there’s a lot of care for the garden and it’s a massive plot but somehow it feels so cosy. That’s just the start… the waiter service is warm helpful and professional. On our first visit we came late and this didn’t seem to matter in the least. I ordered the Pumpkin pie for starters and my God I knew then this place knows what they’re doing. It was delightfully delicious 😋 and everything that followed was equally delicious 😋We stayed for two weeks in a nearby town and we just couldn’t help dining there. Our last night we chose to dine also. You won’t be disappointed, this restaurant has the best of Greek cuisine and you can trust me as I am from Cyprus myself so I know what I’m talking about.
