We enter and sit down by a table covered in a few days worth of dust, it seems. No one to greet us or provide any information. It is dinner time, it is quite dark and sad around here. As we are flooded by the strong smell of old dirty grill and burned oil we decide to pick food that does not involve any grilling or frying, to be safe. Finally an older man, the boss, appears to take our order, with a condescending tone he informs us that the (sticky) menu we got doesnt apply and they serve only the dishes hand written on a small note slipped in to the main menu, barely readable. Both him and the young waitress give a strong unwelcoming vibe making sure we feel how inconvenienced they are by having to work and serve us food. The dishes we ordered turned out to be ok but charging 2 eur per person for service that doesn't exist seemed excessive. Because of the unwelcoming attitude of the staff and the cleanliness of the place we shall not return. Based on the great reviews I expected an entirely...
Read moreHad Garlic bread for a starter. It was a sesame seeded burger bun in half with garlic oil and a few slices of garlic accompanied by a bit of lettuce and a slice of tomato for 5€.
Before the starter came out we were given a basket with some slices of bread and a small dish of olives.
Partner had the carbonara as her main coarse and it was very tasty and a large portion.
I had the chicken souvlaki portion which was also very good but expensive (13.50€) compared to other nearby cafes/restaurants.
Drinks are the same price as most other places.
We were given a complimentary small glass of very strong ouzo and a few small sweets.
The service was OK. Typical Greek style of laid back and chilled out.
The outdoor setting is nice but the leafs, debris and bird crap on the tables detracts from the setting.
Don't think I would go a...
Read moreBest tavern to dine-in in Vasilikos, and we've tried a few during out stay there. The staff has it all from funny sarcasm to really good jokes and they know how to make you come back the next day 😊 Food was excellent. From baked feta, olives, tzatziki to seafood, chicken gyros and best beef stew i ever had. Drinks...just go with the wine. Red or white they both are very nice and go well with the food. And not to forget about the little shop they have inside, where you can find some nice presents for you or those at home. Everything is handmade by those lovely people on the island. I got some nice lavender soaps and olive cream. Really nice...
