I stayed at this hotel the first and last nights of a short trip to Guatemala. Like other Uxlabil hotels in Guatemala, where I’ve stayed on other trips, it is charming and decorated with traditional art and handcrafts throughout. The beds are comfortable and there are kitchenettes in every suite. I will certainly stay here again; however, three comments are required: (1) Anyone with mobility issues will have difficulty; the only suite that I know of that does not require using one or more flights of stairs is immediately off the lobby. Noise is not a problem because the bedrooms are at the back of this suite. (2) The hotel is located within a large, gated community and there are no restaurants within walking distance. The nearest eateries are in the Oakland Mall, a 5-6-minute drive away. (3) The hotel offers a “continental breakfast” for $4.00; however, when I asked for a glass of milk and fruit there was no milk and the only fruit was apples—when melons, papaya, and pineapple are all in season. My suggestion: head for breakfast--or any other meal--at the San Martín restaurant in the Oakland Mall. However, if you don't have a car you will have to...
Read moreWe were looking for someplace clean, safe and close to La Aurora Airport, with car service or shuttle to the airport. Eco Hotel Uxlabil was perfect and exceeded our expectations. First, it was huge! Like bigger than our first apartment, and probably our second apartment! My husband and I shared a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and a twin bed right beside it, perfect for little ones. The two teenagers each had their own bedrooms, and we all shared a bathroom, living area, kitchen and two balconies overlooking a small, wooded ravine. The hotel is inside a gated community and it was easy to order food and have it brought to our room. The front desk clerk, Jorge, could not have been more helpful. He ordered a car for us for the morning--$10--and the car arrived several minutes early. We got to the airport in plenty of time. Breakfast is included but we never tried it because we were out the door before it started! All in all, a great value for a family...
Read moreAfter a majorly delayed bus and last minute change of plans, a friend who was already staying at Uxlabil Eco Suites recommended me to stay there. As I only booked on the day my room was roughly $50US for one night, which was a bit of a treat for me but well worth it not knowing Guatemala City and only being there for one night. Although I didn't get to see much with my timeframe, it was a perfect place to rest as it is located in Zone 10 in a privatized residential area that is very tranquil and safe. The staff were professional and helpful and the included breakfast is very good. My room literally was a suite, it had a full kitchen, lounge area, dining table, nice bathroom and beautiful bedroom. It was not glamorous but very beautiful and homely. Though it does not feel like you are in a major city it is a short walking distance to the renowned Oakland Mall and Fontabella for shopping and...
