Don Emiliano — Restaurant in Guatemala City

We visited this location for a nice steak after a long day of travel. We ordered Filet Mignon and a Classic Burger with a salad.

The steak came out cold and when we informed the staff, they took it back to the kitchen and re-heated it. They brought it back to the table and cutting into it was disappointing. We sent it back all together.

The salad was boring and tasteless. The burger was delicious.

The staff did not apologize or try to rectify the situation about the stake.

Poor food, mediocre service, and non-exciting atmosphere.

This place has potential but they need to really look at training their back and front of house staff.

Good news is that there are so many wonderful places to eat at...

Wow the service, food and ambience were amazing. After a delicious dinner my wife wanted a dessert that she tried here and loved several months ago. But when we asked the waiter he kindly told us that it was discontinued. Seeing the disappointment on her face, Christian our waiter went to the kitchen and in a short time appeared with the exact dessert my wife wanted. Needless to say the dessert was outstanding, a perfect ten. We love Oakland Mall at Christmas and usually stop by Don Emilio’s when we’re in town. Christian gave us a beautiful gift this Christmas by going out of his way to be a blessing to us. That’s the true spirit of the season....

Note that this review is about the new Tiffany Galerias location in zona 14, which does not yet have a page. I have not been to the Oakland location and cannot comment on it.

Anyway, a bit of a disappointing experience. In spite of a very (almost excessively) attentive service, the food was quite basic, with a doneness off (lomito asked for rare, but served medium well; this is quite frequent in South America but normally not the case in Guatemala), and a overly salty sauce. Quite expensive for the quality of the meat, moreover with a tip at 12% (first time here that I do not see the usual 10%). There are lots of better and cheaper parillas...
