A Hidden Gem in Guatemala: Exceptional Comfort and Service
As an experienced traveler, I’ve stayed at countless hotels, but this small, cozy property stands out for its charm, service, and attention to detail. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, offering more space than many accommodations I’ve encountered—including a standard balcony cruise cabin. The temperature control is perfect, the high-quality toiletries are a luxurious touch, and the beds and bedding are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
During our journey through Guatemala, we stayed here twice—once for a night at the beginning and again for two nights midway through our trip. On both occasions, the service was impeccable. Baltasar, the concierge, deserves special mention. His attentiveness is unparalleled; he seems to anticipate your needs the moment you arrive, quickly opening the gate and helping with luggage as your car pulls up.
On our second stay, I was recovering from a shoulder injury after a fall in Atitlán and needed ice packs every hour. Fernanda at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable. She sent ice to my room promptly, hour after hour, without me even having to ask. Her genuine concern and dedication to guest care were deeply touching and unforgettable.
The rooftop restaurant was another highlight. The food was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The staff, from the servers to the cook, went out of their way to accommodate our special requests, adding a personal touch to every meal. I am sorry I did not write down your names. 😕
Kudos to the management for maintaining such a well-kept property and cultivating a team that truly values hospitality. This hotel not only met but exceeded my expectations on every level. We’ll undoubtedly return on our next trip to Guatemala—staying here feels like...
Read moreI am glad others have had a good experience at this hotel. Ours was very disappointing. The air conditioning unit in our room did not work. From the moment we arrived it never put out cool air but the hotel staff seemed convinced that if it wasn't working it was because we were weren't programming it correctly. We were given instructions in how to use the unit's complicated remote control and although we followed them to a T but the room never cooled off even a little. Finally, at four in the morning, after many sleepless hours, I asked the desk attendant to come and see if he could make it work. He spent several minutes trying but could not get any cool air out of it, but still intimated that it was somehow our fault. Very frustrating. I asked that we be given a different room and he did at least allow us to move to a different room with a smaller bed and an air conditioner that was very noisy but did at least keep the room cool so that we could sleep for what was left of the morning. When we checked out later no one asked us if our stay was agreeable -- they knew we were not satisfied and did not want to hear any more about it. Very unprofessional. There are a lot of great places to stay in Guatemala and although this one is sleek and modern, for the same price one can find much better service and a better location. Boutique hotels are best when they are within walking distance from bars and restaurants but this one is on a secluded street that makes going about on foot after dark relatively unsafe. So you'll want a car or taxi to go just a few blocks if it's after six in...
Read moreThe hotel rooms are indeed attractive and spacious, offering a comfortable stay. However, the service experienced was somewhat lacking, with instances of miscommunication between the receptionist and other staff members. Despite being entitled to VIP benefits through Expedia, there was confusion regarding complimentary beverages. While the receptionist mentioned these perks, we did not receive coupons and had to clarify the situation with the restaurant staff ourselves. Unfortunately, this led to unexpected charges due to discrepancies in what was communicated.
Additionally, there were oversights such as forgetting to arrange our transportation, resulting in a rush to the airport. These lapses in service were disappointing and not reflective of the hotel's standards. Furthermore, there was a noticeable unpleasant odor in the room, particularly in the bathroom, necessitating the closure of doors and opening of windows.
Navigating through the city with rideshare services like Uber proved challenging during peak traffic hours, with many drivers canceling trips. This resulted in wasted time and frustration, highlighting the importance of planning outings during off-peak times and seeking recommendations from the front desk.
On a positive note, amenities such as the TV, air conditioning, and food quality were commendable. The breakfast offered was satisfying, and the ambiance of the dining area was pleasant. Despite the shortcomings, these positive aspects added value to the...
