San Martín • Oakland Place — Restaurant in Guatemala City

The service was ok. I had lunch, half sandwich and soup special. 👎🏽 I had to ask for bread (for the soup) wheras others around me were given complimentary bread. The portions were small-- child size. My sandwich was 2x3 inches or less, the turkey was 1/10 inch, but the bread was about 2-3 inches thick. Thus, it was a bread sandwich with cranberry and "turkey" sauce. Due to this experience, I did not visit another San Martin on my trip in Guatamala although they had high ratings. We went to this amazing bakery/restaurant which is located inside a beautiful shopping mall. We grabbed fresh “pan francés” & “hojaldras” to deep in your coffee! Both delicious and freshly baked. We also bought some hummus; oh my goodness to die for! This was totally unexpected and to accompany the hummus some toasted bread very thinly sliced also very good! Not all San Martin are made the same. You would think this is at Oakland Mall where most foreigners come to, it would be better. Unfortunately the service is not great. They seem unorganized, slow to attend customers, and waiting for a refill on coffee took quite some time. We were already done with breakfast when they finally came with refill.
