Wanted to like this place but just had a terrible experience. They abuse dogs, their tents are moldy, the power goes out, and the pool was dirty. The glamping tents were full of mold on the inside. We were moved to actual rooms which were nice but then the power went out and it was extremely extremely hot without the fans and yet they still charged us full price. We ate at their restaurant which was good service and food. But the worst part was yet to come. We had left overs that we put on the table while we went to go grab our bags from the car. The dog we were feeding grabbed the box off the table and walked towards us. We thought it funny he grabbed it because it was for him anyways all alone. A guy named “Juan”, supposedly, with a wheel barrel came to help us take our bags to the room. He immediately started shoowing the dog away even after we told him it was fine. He had a huge rock bigger than his hand already intended to throw at the dog. Sure enough he threw the rock at the dog so hard on the ribs for absolutely no reason. The dog was never bothering us and was the sweetest thing, he was just hungry. Watching the dog get hurt and hear that loud thump from the rock crashing his ribs and making him cry out loud broke us into tears. This literally ruined our entire stay and experience. I told “Juan” that, that is not how you treat dogs, especially dogs that are not harming us in anyway. He laughed and said that that’s how they get dogs away from there. So this is a repeated occasion and their norm on treating dogs. If they don’t want dogs around, they should tell guest not to feed them. If I knew the dog was going to get hit with a rock for being fed, I would’ve never fed him. Even after us voicing our concern about the way he treated the dog , they all just laughed at us as if what we were saying was funny. This memory will never leave our mind and for that reason we will never return to this place unfortunately. A guy named Carlos that was in charge at that time gave me the wheelbarrow guys name which was supposedly Juan. I don’t even know where to complain because they probably don’t get in trouble for what they do and they probably gave me false names anyways. But I wish someone could fix this issue with the way they are treating the dogs, so inhumane and disturbing to witness...
Read moreDon't get near this dreadful "hotel". This place, horrible at itself is run in a cowboys manner. There is no aspect in this institute which is reasonable so I just go through our experience step by step: we took a nine hours taxi drive from lake Atitlan to Lanquin with the purpose of visiting Senuc champai. We booked, a month in advance a double room with a bath. When we arrived to the hotel late in the afternoon we found out that the hotel made a mistake and the booking was for a tent. When we show manager the written confirmation that we booked and paid for a room and not a tent he said that it is a mistake of the computer system and it is not it's problem and that the rooms are fully booked. When we assist of having a room even in a different place, he offered us a room in a third grade hostel. We refused to go to that place. In this stage we decided to leave the place fitst thing in the morning, without visiting Semuc champai, since there is one a day shuttle and we couldn't think of staying at this place one more night. With no other options we took the tent for one night. After one hour sleep, my wife woke up screaming of pain. A black scorpion bite her finger while she was in bed. At that time there was no staff at there. The only person to be found was the armed night guard who was kind enough to call his boss by the telephone. The boss on his part was kind enough to offer to come and take my wife to the health center on his motorbike. We agreed, but guess what, he never showed up. The first moment we could, we left this so called "hotel" without looking back. Keep away from this place, you better give your money to charity, gamble or flash it in the toilet rather than...
Read moreThe hotel is pretty nice compared to the surrounding options. I'll give it that. Unfortunately they dont provided WiFi in their rooms. I understand that WiFi wouldn't be provided in the campground sites but we booked the luxury rooms with AC units. The rooms have cable but it seems they only provide the basic package of channels because alot of the channels I tried watching were not available. This is the first hotel I've ever stayed at that doesn't provide WiFi in its rooms. My biggest disappointment with this hotel is that as much money they charge to stay here, they don't have anything that prevents stray dogs from roaming the hotel property. I understand they can be a liability to the hotel but they can do better in their attempts to remove them off their property. I witnessed their staff personnel remove a puppy by tying a rope around its neck and forcefully dragging the poor puppy as it cried and wrythed in pain across the 3 pools and then dragged him up the stairs towards the bathroom building next to the pools. The poor puppy was taken behind the building but I'm not sure what they did with the puppy. I hope the puppy is ok. I went to see if the puppy was ok but I didn't see nor hear the puppy cry when I went to check out the bathroom building the puppy was dragged to. I didn't come to see animal cruelty. Investing in a perimeter to prevent stray dogs from roaming their grounds would be a more humane way of...
