Cons & Pros this is suppose to be a 4* hotel Pros It’s clean/easy to find/ has direct step access to lake Balaton / family rooms with shared door / refurbished in the last 10 years/ decent breakfast buffet choice/ many pools although small / watch access to facilities Cons No tea, coffee etc facility in the room/ Requested kettle I was told if they have any left, hotel is at half capacity/ 2 free bottled water per stay regardless of length / mini fridge not filled/ water not refilled/ no shampoo or conditioner in the room/ towels not changed/ all drinks are extra including water /inclusive dinner was over cooked 2 nights in the row / food cold at breakfast & dinner buffet / food at buffet not fresh / saunas have no temperature indication outside & off season only few operate/ aroma sauna has a limit on how many aromas they can provide which means by lunchtime there is none left / there are NO cold showers in the sauna area (Lao there is nowhere to cool off (there is one pathetic small bucket) / wellness area suppose to close at 8 pm but attendant switched everything off at 7.30 pm even if you are sitting in the sauna / you must check out at 11.00 AM and cannot stay in the hotel or spa area without buying a full price day spa ticket/ receptionist is a hit & miss (the nightone has no clue about boat trips or any tourist activities in the direct vicinity of the hotel)/ internet, TV broke at lunch time at 21.30 pm we were told they are still “fixing it”/ cheap finishes feels like they run out of money when redecorating the hotel/ arrived for lunch & the restaurant was empty , we all felt as if we disturb the waitress and eat our food as fast as we can so we don’t have to deal with her rude arrogant attitude (she literally brought the bill before we even got the food when I pointed it she said the machine printed it WTH) All in all it feels like they have some 4* facilities but they either have limited /low budget for maintenance or the personal doesn’t care. The pride & customer service is non existent with some exception. They provide half board but try to be cheap & save money in areas that it pathetic for a 4* hotel. Think about this more like a dolled up...
Read moreAfter visiting Balatonfüred last summer for an afternoon with some colleagues I knew I wanted to return and experience all the area had to offer.
I couldn't have picked a better place than Hotel Füred for my week long holiday. Upon arrival the staff was courteous and professional. There was a slight problem with our room (we needed two single beds and there was only a double that could not be separated) that was easily taken care of without complaint.
The lobby bar and lounge are quite comfortable and was an excellent spot to unwind after our journey from Budapest. Our bartender was quite helpful with information about the hotel and the surrounding area and we seemed to run into him everywhere but the front desk. He soon became our go to guy for anything we needed either at the beach bar or in the dining room.
Not many of the reviews I've read of this location talk about the food so we were a little skeptical about the included breakfast and dinner that were included in our booking. Those fears were dashed in the first night. The dining room is tastefully done and the attendants take great care to make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend ordering something from the wine menu which includes a great selection of white, rose, and red wines from the region. We tried a different wine each night and were never disappointed.
Both the spa area and the beach offered great places to relax and unwind. I just wish they were open later into the evening.
All in all this was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend it for future travelers. I will...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel in October, which was unseasonably warm, and our rooms were very hot, however, the air conditioner was not working. When we enquired about the problem we were advised that the central heating/cooling had been turned off, as it was the end of the season, and we were told to open our windows if we were hot! The white-gloved waiters were very attentive, however, the buffet dinners left a lot to be desired. The choice was ample, but the quality was very poor, and not 4 Star standard. The so-called suite that I had reserved, was actually three interconnecting regular rooms, with the middle room serving as a very underwhelming sitting room, with very little attention to décor, not what one would expect from a suite. I did initially ask for 2 interconnecting rooms, however, they do not have interconnecting rooms on the side of the building with lake views. All in all, many features of the hotel were average and could be a lot better. My husband accidentally left his jacked in the wardrobe when we checked out, and when he called the hotel, they very kindly and efficiently posted it back to him, so there are aspects of the hotel that met our expectations, however, there were others that definitely fell short of what a 4 Star hotel should offer. The hotel would certainly meet the expectations of average holidaymakers with limited international...
