The service provided by the staff was truly exceptional. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect.
The waitstaff was prompt and efficient, taking our orders with a smile and delivering our food in a timely manner. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations when we were undecided. It was evident that they genuinely cared about our satisfaction and made us feel valued as customers.
Now, let's talk about the food. The quality of the dishes at Halaszkert Restaurant is truly remarkable. Each bite was a burst of flavors and the presentation was visually appealing. From the appetizers to the main course, everything was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors were well-balanced, leaving us wanting more.
To top it all off, the dessert was absolutely exquisite. The chef's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every bite. We savored every spoonful and couldn't resist ordering seconds.
Overall, I highly recommend Halaszkert Restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. The combination of outstanding service, delicious food, and delightful ambiance make it a top-notch choice. I cannot wait to visit again and indulge in their culinary delights. Well done,...
Read moreHaving spent 5 days camping around Balaton this was the one and final chance to enjoy an evening without cooking burnt sausages. The 'unassuming Hungarian cuisine' tagline and the 4.6 rating hooked us. We left the restaurant with a distinguishable foul taste in our mouths. Not from the food, which was at best mediocre, but from the lack of honesty and the waiter's nonchalance in up-selling the 'palinka' of which 3 shots covered the cost of two meals. Our own stupidity was to blame, but don't be fooled, especially if you're English-speakers and obvious tourists. This isn't the Mediterranean where snapps and ouzo are poured freely without charge. My expectations of a real, Hungarian, hearty-beef-goulash were left wanting; the beef far from tender, the shriveled, alien-like dumplings outnumbering any stew that was served of which lacked any distinct taste. I assumed Goulash had a reputation for it's fiery-ness? The fish soup also struggled to tickle my taste buds and I hate to throw the word bland around. Having been served strong liquor my Polish other half obviously had to complain to the waiter who palmed us off to a manager bereft of English competency and told us to leave. So thus we left, disappointed and cheated by Hungarian's courtesy. Presumptuous to think I'll...
Read moreVery nice atmosphere, great food. The only downside is that the waiter we had is rather greedy. On the first evening we visited when it got to the part where I was about to pay, I acknowledged that the cheque included service charge. The waiter quickly enlightened me that the service charge was shared amongst all, so he wouldn't personally get it. So I added a few extra thousands not even realising that he's skimming us twice (I had a few glasses of wine and wasn't really paying much attention). The second time we had dinner there, the same waiter (middle aged, slim with a beer belly and a goatee) was again about to point out that I should add some extra money to the cheque even though it included service charge. But I sort of stood my ground and I didn't. He asked me twice if I was sure that was the bottom line to be charged of. I reconfirmed twice it was. Surprise, surprise: the guy completely blanked us when we were leaving, not even a 'bye' or 'thank you'. It goes to show, you can pretend all you want that you're a gracious host and hospitable, but if it's not genuine but led by ulterior motives it will come out the moment your motives aren't satisfied. We won't...
