I booked a room at this hotel for the 4 nights we were in Budapest for £134. Within this price you get breakfast included which is a bonus. On arrival we were able to check in earlier than the specified time which meant we were able to put our bags away and get out into the city. Once we had been given the key, the guy at reception gave us a remote for the TV (which we later found out didn't work).||||The room felt fresh and clean and had a very good sized bathroom and a mini fridge which you didn't have to pay for. We were next to a set of stairs which we found were not in use, like another set of stairs and gifts on our floor. There was an air-conditioning unit in the room but with no remote - when we asked at reception we were told that the manager had turned it off during September despite it being 30 degrees!! When we returned to the hotel after a day out, the same guy who checked us in called us over as were going up the stairs and handed us the remote for the air conditioning which turned out to be a godsend as it got quite warm in the afternoon. The beds were extremely comfy and we got 4 decent nights sleep. The only criticisms for the room is that the cleaners did not enter once, meaning we soon ran out of toilet roll after only having 2 rolls between 2 of us for 5 days/4 nights and the wifi had poor signal strength. On check out we were able to keep our luggage in the luggage room as we had a late flight which was an added bonus.||||Breakfast was served between 7am and 10am, and on our first day we went to breakfast around 9.30 after a busy day before. There was no other guests having breakfast, but here was a good selection of cheese and cold meats, bread and cereals as well as hot sausages, rice and some form of fried bread. There was yoghurt on the table which was very gloopy as it had possibly been out for a long time. On the next day we decided to go down earlier and it was packed, with lots of messy tables. This was fine as there was additional seating but did look untidy whilst you were getting breakfast. The yoghurt was much better and less gloopy and there was also an addition of eggs. The breakfast is basic, but does the trick in filling a hole before a day of exploring the city. There is a fair choice of items allowing even more pickier eaters to still take advantage of the breakfast.||||The hotel itself is located on a tram route and is around a 5-8 minute walk away from a metro station - Ors Vezer Tere where buses, trams, trains and the metro 2 pass, meaning you can get to pretty much anywhere in the city from here. There is also a spar and other shops close by. Its about 50 minutes from the airport on 2 buses (200E from the airport and then 85/85E to Ors Verez Tere. We bought a 7 day travel pass from the airport for 4950FT (around £15) and this allowed us on all public transport for the entire time which was a huge saving and we made good use of it. You can get it for a shorter period depending on how long you'll be there for. The metro 2 gets you to the centre of Budapest in around 10 minutes and theres a train every 2-5 minutes in peak time and even 10 minutes off peak. The main stop we used was Astoria and Deak Ferenc Ter as these were very central to the main city centre areas. The metro 2 also goes over to Buda which is very handy and if you change at Deak Ferenc Ter you can access metro 1 and 3 which will take you to other places of interest. When entering the metro station you are required to show your pass or validate your ticket (for non travel card holders). On the trams and trolleybuses you just get on and I would assume they get checked on board although ours never were. We used google maps to get us between places using public transport and we found this a good tool as it bases it on time, although you get your bearings fairly quickly in this city. Most of the public transport stops between 11 and midnight, with the last metro 2 returning at 23:41. ||||The one tip I would say whilst in Budapest in general is that they love sparkling water - if you want still you have to specify. Some places will ask, other will just give you sparkling!||||In total, this hotel is in a great location and good value for money given that breakfast is included. It would have been nice to have the room cleaned at least once during our stay but for less than £33 per night I guess you can't expect too much. I would recommend this hotel based on a good place to put your head down and eat ready for...
Read moreVery low-priced place to stay. For 4 of us it came out to a bit under $60 per room (for 2 rooms), per night, during peak summer season. We were able to park our car for free in front of the hotel, and catch the tram right in front of the hotel. Also, it is a very short walk to a major transit stop, which includes the #2 subway. The air conditioning temperature in the room is controlled by the front desk, but they were very good and allowed us to bring our room temperature down to 20C. The rooms also have refrigerators, but they need to be pulled out of their cubbies to work properly. ||||Breakfast is per Eastern European standards, which includes very little hot food, but still enough to get started for the day. People there are nice and helpful. Could probably be a bit cleaner...but you get what...
