This is one of the few modern, new hotels in Gyor and definitely a very good option for exploring the city. A new build, purpose built property, it offers everything you'd expect from the IBIS brand at very good value. You can stroll to the old town and everything the city has to see very easily. The hotel is also a very close walk to the newer aspects of Gyor, such as the indoor shopping mall.||||If you arrive by train, the hotel is a relatively short walk (about 10 mins) from the station, but there are some annoying one way pedestrian crossings en route, that are certainly irritatingly inconvenient. Parking is available at the hotel on site.||||The staff are very nice, very welcoming and very friendly. They are all wearing masks due to the COVID restrictions and guests need to wear them in the public spaces. The staff will gladly offer suggestions on where to do and what to see.||||Rooms are standard IBIS. A comfortable bed with clean linens, space for luggage and hanging clothes, a good working desk space, chair, excellent free WIFI, flat screen TV (which I didn't use so I can't comment on the channels) and excellent heating/cooling. Thankfully the large window also opens for fresh air.||||Bathrooms have a large walk in shower with the usual IBIS body/hair wash. The water pressure was strong, but the shower head was not very effective. The water temperature kept changing during use. The basin water pressure and temperature was much more consistent. Towels were a bit old. Some were torn. But they were clean. House keeping is provided daily.||||Breakfast was the usual IBIS fare, but did vary from day to day in small ways. The only negative was the fresh fruit. It was somewhat limited to some wrinkled up, soft apples, although on my last day, some citrus was available. All in all, a good selection and certainly more than enough to get you going. It was however a bit worrying to see dogs allowed in the cafe.||||There's a room on site for guests to cook their own food and doing laundry. There's also a fridge in the kitchen for guests, but not in the rooms.||||I got a good rate and you always know you can rely on IBIS for consistency. The location is...
Read moreNice enough, standard ibis. Unfortunately really let down. I booked specifically a quiet room, then when I arrived I made sure to ask for a quiet room and was assured it would be. When I got to my room it was the top floor next to the lift and was the loudest room in the whole hotel. Those staying on the trip got quieter rooms. When I asked to change I was told because people were arriving later in the week I couldn't have a different room. This was when people were still arriving and being given better rooms. My only thought is that the reception staff do not like people from other countries visiting this hotel and therefore I would recommend avoiding it. Edit: I see they replied the hotel was full. Why were my requests not actioned when it was booked. Why were other guests being checked in after I arrived and even the following day getting quieter rooms? There were many, many people checking in the same day after me. It seems this was...
Read moreI normally enjoy staying at Accor hotels, but unfortunately this was not case at Gyor. It took nearly an hour to check in due to the Reception guy not having any time management skills. Our party of three turned up early evening having eventually finding the hotel in pouring rain as google showed the wrong location. We waited our turn, or we did, only to be told by the Receptionist that two Asian Gentlemen who were sitting in the bar area were before. Fair enough. However it took the Receptionist 40 mins to check them in due to them asking him lots of questions. What he should have doe, bearing in mind that time was moving on and there was a queue forming, was suggest that the two gentlemen go to their rooms and then come back when reception was quieter. This was birthday holiday. I blame Accor for the training of this said Receptionist. I will now think twice about staying in Accor Hotels again as it certainly ruined our stay in such a...
