I arrived at this Pension (panzion) having arrived at Gyor without any reservations at 9.30pm. I found it in the Lonely Planet and was quoted €30 for a twin room and breakfast by a lady who only seems to speak German at reception (in fact, I think they all speak only Hungarian and German).||||The hotel is centrally-located, but can be a bit tricky to find if you're bad at map-reading or if it's late at night. It's a good 15-20 min walk there from the train station, and is situated on a side-street one block south of the main square. Rooms are quite comfortable it generally feels quite cosy and roomy. There's no in-room air-con but they have portable ones. My room also had multi-channel cable TV but no safes. Bed was comfortable, whilst breakfast was ok with warm food offered, including omelettes (cooked on order) and a salami platter.||||Shower was strong, but my shower head was a little faulty, so water sprayed and spilled everywhere, causing the bathroom to flood a little.||||All in all, not a bad...

The staff are very friendly and whilst, as wth most of non-Budapest places in Hungary German is the preferred non-Hungarian language one or two staff speak enough english to get by (and even book over the phone as we did) with the help of our limited Hungarian phrases! The room was really comfortable and clean if a little worn - but as a budget option it was very good. ||||There is no restaraunt but that's not a problem being so close to town - breakfast is provided and was great (fruit, bread, jam and a choice of museli or eggs/omelette, coffee/tea/juice).||||Non of the pensions/hotels we emailed actually responded - not a problem we have had elsewhere - this one included but as mentioned we were easily able to book over the phone.||||Gyor town center is very pretty and well worth an...
