We've been twice in Gyula, Hungary, on short therapeutic holidays, and we opted to stay to the Gyula Elizabeth 4-star Superior Hotel for the same reason: it's near to the Gyulai Várfürdő (which is the amazing Gyula Castle Bath & Spa). ||||Location||Hotel's location is great from that standpoint. A few minutes walk to the Castle Spa from the Hotel, through a wonderful park and the Gyulai Vár (Gyula Castle, a 600-years-old fortress). Almásy-kastély (Almásy Mansion), a must-see, is on the right side of the park if you pick this path.||||Room, Bathroom||Now let's talk about room and service. Each time, we enjoyed comfortable rooms and clean bathrooms, relatively spacious. The air conditioning hasn't shut off when we left the room during day, thus we were blessed with comfort. The other pleasant ingredients of our stay were the indoor parking, and Wi-Fi access in room. At the front desk, receptionists speak Hungarian and Romanian, mostly, which is cool we guess, since Gyula is at 1-hour away from Oradea, Romania.||||Unfortunately, we didn't find an extra pillow; the existing ones were pretty small and flat. The slippers were missing, too. ||||Advice: you also need to pay attention to details, like changing bath towels every single day. ||||Cuisine||Well, what can we say? We had a disappointing gastronomic experience with buffet breakfasts and dinners at the Hotel. Each day, the same unseasoned recipes. Each winter and early-summer season we have been offered scramble eggs, sausages, french fries, instant coffee, cereals, juice and so one. We cannot remember of something tasteful. Sorry guys. ||||Advice: if you're keen to eat excessively, exquisitely in Gyula (we don't), you should look for a different restaurant.||||However, do not hesitate to take a leap into a really good Hungarian food at Sorpince Vendeglo. Congrats to the Chef. Again.||||Bottom line: we've got a very good price for our short holidays at the Gyula Elizabeth Hotel, but we missed the...
Read moreBeautiful hotel at the foot of the Gyula Castle. The room and the bathroom in it were clean and roomy. You can feel yourself in a castle with modern area. The breakfast is rich and the dinner is very delicious. The dessert for the dinner is also 'yummy' :). The hotel has wellness part too, in which you can use 4 type of saunas, 3 type of jacuzzies and also a swimming pool. Every sights are in 5min walk, the Gyula Castle, the Almásy - Castle and Gyula Thermal Spa too. In the Almásy - Castle you can see interactive exhibitions, which make the whole area very interesting. The thermal water is very unique. Beside, it is very good for your health, the color of it is not common because it is brown with which you can't meet so many times. I highly recommend Gyula as well as Elizabeth Hotel.
A vacsorához tartozó desszertek is cukrász minőségűek.
Read moreMy wife and me spent two nights at Elizabeth Hotel, which locatin is perfect within walking distance to city centre and right behind the Gyula castle. This is a modern hotel with well designed and executed detailes, nice decorations. Check in was efficient, the staff at reception was professional and helpful. ||Our room was on the 3rd floor, just under the roof . It was also nicely decorated and clean but unfortunately had weired things too, such as it was extremly hot, the a/c was blowing hot air, there was only one bedside table in this double room, no lights were fitted to the beds etc. We hardly had amenities in the room e.g. shower cap, body lotion, tea tray atc. When we arrived we had even no bathrobes in the room thats were included in the package. After I complained at the rception we received two small ones. Since I am 186 cm tall I was not able to use it.||The bathroom was the nicest part of the place but with the lack of amenities. On arrival we had only one shower gel and shampoo for two persons.||Breakfast and dinner was in form of buffet, nothing extraordinary rather average with limted selection . Quality of food at dinner was better, all ones I selected tasted well.||Cleanliness all over the place was excellent. Service was on the slow side e.g. at the bar it took me 15 minutes to get one coctail.||Room tip: avoid rooms on 3rd floor.||Slightly recommended due to location, cleanliness, beautifull design and professional staff...
