Today we visited, Sri Govinda Raja Swami Vari Temple. Sri Govinda raja swamy Temple is an ancient Hindu Vaishnavite temple situated in the heart of Tirupati city in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh in India. The temple was built during 12th century and was consecrated in the year 1130 AD by Saint Ramanuja. The temple is one of the earliest structures in Tirupati and also one of the biggest temple complexes in Tirupati district. The Tirupati (down hill) city is built around this temple. The temple is currently administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. It is believed that during invasion of Govindaraja Perumal Temple in Chidambaram, the Utsava murti (processional deity) was brought to Tirupati for safe keeping. The Utsava murti was taken back after the invasions. The temple is dedicated to the god Vishnu, who is referred to as Govindaraja-swamy. The deity is in reclining yoga nidra posture, facing east, with his right hand under his head and left hand straight over his body. Sridevi and Bhudevi, the consorts of Vishnu, are seated at his feet. In some texts, Govindaraja is mentioned as the elder brother of Venkateshwara, a form of Vishnu whose chief temple is in Tirupati. The temple is one of the largest temple complexes in Andhra Pradesh.[citation needed] A 50 m high, seven storied Rajagopuram was constructed on east entrance of the temple by Matla Anantaraja, a local chieftain. This structure has Ramayana scenes and portrait of Matla Anantaraja and his three wives carved onto the passage walls.Towards the west of Rajagopuram, there are two enclosures of the temple, arranged one behind the other. The outer enclosure hosts sub shrines of the consort of Govindaraja - Pundarikavalli (a form of Lakshmi) and Alvars. The inner enclosure hosts the main shrine of Govindaraja along with shrines of Krishna with his consort, Andal. Towards south west corner of the inner enclosure, there is a shrine dedicated to Kalyana Venkateswara which had a mandapa with finely finished colonettes on the outerpiers and with central space lined with yalis projecting inwards. The pavilion in the middle had columns of grey green granite and wooden roof. Besides Govindaraja, the shrines of Parthasarathy (the former presiding deity) and Kalyana Venkateswara are considered religiously...

Renest Hotel Review: I had booked online and confirmation and other information was promptly sent online. Check-in was very smooth and easy. I had requested a late checkout on the departure day - and was told that should be no issue. I did have to pay extra but it was worth it - as we had a late train to catch from Renigunta. Special note about Mr.Pavan who was there for the 2 days and helped us as needed.
The room was very clean, and just the right size for the 2 of us. Water, Tea, Coffee and a water kettle were provided. The bathroom likewise was clean and neat, and supplies provided, including a dental kit. Clean towels.
The room had a TV and when we requested they turned on the Tataplay channels, which allowed us to watch the IND-NZ semifinal ICC world cup match. Other channels were available too.
All in all a great experience including the restaurant where we had a tasty vegetarian lunch.
Manasa Travels (Renest Travel Desk): I had called them about 10 days ahead of my trip and talked to Mr.Muneendra and Mr.Mithun. They were very nice and gave me the details of a car for 3 days - Pickup, Tirumala via Alipiri Mettu and 3rd day at Padmavathi, Srinivasamangapuram, Sriveri Mettu and a drop to Renigunta.
From the pickup to the drop-off - we had a great experience. Our driver Mithun and Naresh did a great job of accommodating our requests. Good vehicles (Etios, Dzire). In addition they made my reservation without any advance, and I only paid them at the end.
Both the hotel and the car hire were very good, which as a result made our trip very pleasurable. I would definitely use these services anytime I plan on visiting Tirupathi, and will recommend it to any friends. Location of the hotel is also perfect - close to Alipiri, Kapeelatheertham and within walking distance of a bustling...

🙏From Thayar’s sannidhi, one is supposed to go to Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple Tirupati which is at walk able distance from railway station. Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple Tirupati premise is very large. At the entrance of Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, there is a shrine for MudalAzhwars, Udayavar and various other deities. Opposite to this there is a shrine for Lord Krishna. This God here inside Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple Tirupati is the replica of Chidambaram divya desa Perumal. Thayar is Andal. Brahmotsavam is performed in Govindaraja Swamy Temple for 10 days in a year which doesn’t clash with Brahmotsavam performed for other deities. If you look into the history of Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple of Tirupati, the legend goes back to the time of Islamic reign in South India. When the southern parts of India, witnessed Muslim invasion, to maintain its safety, statue of Lord Govindaraja Swamy, deity of Chidambaram was brought to Tirupati, which was later brought back once the situation returned to its normalcy. However, revered Saint Sri Ramanujacharya had a dream where Lord Govindaraja Swamy informed him about his wishes to reside in Tirupati. Owing to this when he visited the place he saw in his dream; he found the statue of Lord Govindaraja Swamy there. It was then, he advised the king to build a temple in the same place.
This temple is only half a km away from Tirupati Railway station and at a distance of 1.5 km from Tirupati...
