Hyatt is known for its Modern and chic hotel, that’s why we booked for couple of nights. While checkin we asked lady at reception if we can get a room with a view and we were told all rooms have view it’s on 5th floor , after seeing main road and parking lot we asked can we get another room as room opposite to our had a better view , Monika said that all rooms are sold out if we need to upgrade for a better view , she could say the same thing during checkin . Well that was the start of torcher, we thought Hyatt is a 5 star hotel , the service and the upkeep of the room made it a 3 star. Next morning we realised that the fridge was not working for more than 12 hours, the cabinet where water was kept was broken , TV was not working from late evening onwards we thought it’s cos of the cloudy/ rainy conditions … the housekeeping worked at a snail pace, took 20 mins and 2 reminder calls to get someone in the room. Also to top it all someone puked just outside our room maybe late night or early morning , I can’t believe they don’t check on camera what’s going on why the guest has to point it?, it was 7:45 am when we reported. I just got a reply that we’ll see. After sharing what we went through in last 24 hours with Monika , we got an option to change the room, we politely denied and continued to stay in same room no 524. If the room had so many problems that means it’s given to folks coming through 3rd party apps. ?
Some of the positives were the bed and soft pillows, very comfortable. The breakfast service was excellent and the staff did a good job. The guards at the entrance were always smiling and welcoming.
Our stay at the Hyatt, chosen for its modern appeal, started with a hopeful request for a room with a view, only to find ourselves overlooking a busy road and parking lot on the 5th floor. When we asked to change rooms for a better view, we were told none were available despite seeing a better option nearby. This disappointing start set the tone for our experience, challenging our expectations of a 5-star hotel.
Issues continued to unfold; the fridge faulty it was replaced in the morning, the cabinet where beverage and water is kept was broken the technicians repaired next morning and the TV malfunctioned at late and fixed again next morning . We requested few things from housekeeping they responded slowly, requiring multiple reminders. When we were going for breakfast we saw someone would have dropped food or puked near our door. We immediately complaint , an unpleasant experience and went unnoticed until we reported it in the morning , not sure if housekeeping or security makes rounds at night to check basics are done .
After sharing our frustrations with Monika, we were offered a room change, which we declined, opting to stay in room 524. It made us wonder if these problems were reserved for guests booking through third-party apps.
Despite these setbacks, the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and breakfast service was commendable. The entrance guards were consistently friendly.
Overall, while certain aspects of our stay fell short of expectations for a 5-star experience, the positive encounters with staff and comfort of the bed...

Having stayed at numerous hotels, I’d rate Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh a 3.5 out of 5. While it has some redeeming qualities, it falls short of the luxury one might expect from a supposed 5-star property. Below is a detailed breakdown of my experience.
Pros: Milk for Kids Easily Available: Traveling with young children was made easier with the hotel’s prompt provision of baby food.
Prime Location: The hotel’s location in Sector 17 is a major plus, offering easy access to the vibrant Sector 17 Market, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden.
Friendly Staff: The staff, particularly at check-in and in the restaurants, were courteous and welcoming.
Buffet: The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a devent variety of Indian and international dishes. But the unprofessionalism in which things handled 3 ande kar do , 2 dosa banao ...appeared chaotic
Cons: Privacy concerns :- u will see people on terrace mostly staff and u get to have look back too (check photos)
Noisy Environment: The hotel was surprisingly noisy, both from within and outside. Cleaning machines in the corridors and general bustle made it hard to relax, which is unacceptable for a property claiming 5-star status. Construction Disturbances: Ongoing construction work was a major disruption, and despite informing the staff, there was no resolution or acknowledgment, which was disappointing.
Poor Views from Rooms: Rooms 206, 208, and 210 had underwhelming views, facing a parking lot , bad views of terrace , repair works (check photos ) , instead of the promised deluxe appearance
Small Gym: The gym, while equipped with modern cardio equipment, felt cramped and inadequate for a hotel of this caliber. Unresponsive Housekeeping: Housekeeping was a letdown, with requests often going unanswered for hours, which impacted the overall experience. No Kids’ Play Room: For a family-friendly hotel, the absence of a dedicated kids’ play area was a notable drawback. * Small Dining Area*: The dining area was overcrowded, leading to wait times for the buffet, which felt chaotic and poorly managed for the number of guests. Better to call from room and ask the waiting time beforehand. * No Table in Deluxe Rooms*: The deluxe rooms, despite being spacious, lacked a table, which was inconvenient for work or dining in-room.
No natural gardens or open spaces .
Overall Experience: Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh has a lot going for it with its prime location, friendly staff, However, the noise, ongoing construction, unresponsive housekeeping, and lack of family-friendly amenities like a kids’ play room prevent it from delivering a true luxury experience. The small gym and cramped dining area further detract from the stay, making it feel more like a 3-star property than a 5-star one. I’d recommend it for its location and food but suggest managing expectations and requesting a room with a better...
